      *Akromas Guide to Dreams: A witches View*

      In the land of dream time . . .
      This journal, has been created so that other people can read about my views on dreams, and how I learn from them on a day to day basis. I would also like to think of it as a guide towards helping people. As I am a Witch, dreaming is a big part of my life. My dreams help me to understand a lot about whats going on in my life once i have interpreted them. But then again, some of my dreams i find very difficult to interpret because of how completely random and mixed up they are. That's why it is good to keep a log of your dreams and try to understand them. This is very important, so lets start with that.

      Understanding our dreams . . .
      Our dreams are very important, they hold the key to a inner world and most of the time can guide us towards the best course of action in our everyday life. Everyone dreams, anyone who says they don't dream, are just blind to the fact that they just cant remember what it is they dream.In fact many of us can only remember 1-2 dreams that we have a night, if that. Our dreams can take us to many places, wonderful places, were we see people we haven't seen in years, meet new lovers, and even meet with our guardian angels. They can show us opportunities, solutions to problems, and they can even warn us of future things to come.. So... learn to enjoy the night! Make dreaming a priority for a while so that you can focus on your dreams. Below are some steps that work for me when i want to relax myself before i sleep.

      • Make sure your bedroom is warm but well ventilated
      • Make yourself extremely comfy by using plenty of bedding and cushions
      • Make sure your room is tidy!
      • Light rose or lavender incense or burn a essential oil that relaxes you
      • use subdued lighting
      • Play some gentle music. E.g. Meditation music
      • Get yourself comfy and imagine yourself lying within the fluffy clouds!
      Once you are relaxed, close your eyes and continue to float withing the clouds, push away all your worries on other clouds and let them drift away.
      make sure to keep a journal beside your bed so that if you awake in the middle of the night after a dream, take a few notes before you go back to sleep so you wont forget the dream in the morning.

      Remembering our dreams . . .
      Its not as easy as it sounds, dreams can fade from our memory within just a few minutes of waking up, because of other responsibilities, like getting breakfast for the kids and getting yourself ready. Below I have a Hawaiian ritual for remembering dreams I obtained from one of my books. Its very simple and does help!
      • First get a glass of water and place is beside your bed
      • Drink half a glass of water just before you go to sleep, leaving the other half nearby
      • After you have drunk the water say: As i drink the water, it reminds me that I will recall my dream
      • Then settle comfortably into bed using whatever relaxation technique is comfortable for you
      • When you wake up in the morning, drink the other half of the water and say: As i drink once more, I recall my dream

      Magical boosters for sleep!

      Prophetic dream tea
      • 1 teaspoon of chamomile
      • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
      • 1 teaspoon mugwort
      • 2 teaspoons rose petals
      • 1 teaspoon peppermint


      mix the ingredients well. Use one teaspoon of tea for every cup of boiling water. As the tea steeps, say:
      Tea of vision, dreaming tea. As I sip you, bring to me, An altered state conductive to psychic dreams. And when I'm through, Rock me gently into sleep and bring me the answers that i need

      Sweeten with honey if desired. Drink the tea thirty minutes before going to bed. Store the dry tea in a plastic bag with zipper closure or glass jar with a tight fitting lid.

      To dream of past lives
      Wearing an opal to bed or sleeping with one under your pillow works well for inducing dreams of past lives.

      To recall dreams
      To help recall dreams, place red jasper on your head board or nightstand before falling asleep.
