This is what works for me.....
My method and a few tips on WILDing
~ Get in the mind set (obviously!) read about WILDing, read about other people's experiences, wrap your head around the WILD!
~ I have a weird sleep schedule, M - F I go to sleep anywhere from 11-1 and wake up at 6:30. Come Friday/Saturday and I'm usually up until 3am and sleep, usually, until 10, but sometimes noon! So, what I'm getting at,is that a strict sleep schedule doesn't necessarily matter, I believe that it is all about the------
------>
Wake Back To Bed
~ I do this every chance I get, aka, on Sat and Sun mornings; but any time you know you can get at least 7/8 hours of sleep, attempt a WBTB.
~ I sleep for at least 4 hours before I either naturally wake up (which is always) or something wakes me up (dog, cat, boyfriend, bodily needs), I never use an alarm. But that's me, if your not a light sleeper then set a damn alarm!
~ Once I wake/get woken up, I get up out of bed. I use the restroom, go out to the kitchen and get some water, I may send a random early AM text message, I may log on DV real quick, take my dog out .... The point is, I DO something that entails a tiny bit of brain function.
~ Then after at least being up (out of bed) for 5 minutes I make my way back to my bed, grab my sleep mask (I highly recommend using one) and crawl into bed.
~ My thoughts are all about dreaming and going WILD. I tell myself as I get comfortable that "I will be dreaming, I will WILD, I will know...."
~ Once comfortable, I keep thinking similar thoughts and repeating them, like a mantra. I change mine all the time now so use whatever works for you. A good, easy one is
"I'm dreamingofdreamingofdreamingofdreamingofdreaming.. ......"
~ Like most WILD tutorials will tell you, I don't worry about lying perfectly still, ignoring every itch or never swallowing. Instead, I allow myself to move slightly if I want, I swallow etc... The key is to remain IN YOUR HEAD; imagine your body as separate from your head/mind. If you have to swallow or itch or whatever, do it very nonchalantly, try to do it with out thinking about doing it. Just keep repeating your dream thoughts.

~ It will be natural for your mind to wander, in fact, I love it when this happens. All of a sudden I'm picturing some random scenario, or thinking about the most out there things. I will come to and continue with the Mantras, to me, the drifting away is getting me that much closer to a dream.
~ I also notice HH imagry is way intense when I WBTB. A lot of light flashes, swirls, morphing shapes (its from being still half asleep probably). I watch these like a movie but don't really focus on one image,
TOO MUCH FOCUS will only keep you up.
REMEMBER THAT
FOCUS but
DON'T FOCUS too much
~ Soon, I either find myself in a dream scene and know from the beginning that I am dreaming (a quick RC always helps)
~ Or (most commonly) I will be in my bed and weird things begin to happen i.e. I'll hear the radio turn on, I'll hear my cat come in or I'll find that I had just fell off my bed, have turned the other way in it all of a sudden I'm somersaulting on it! Of course, really, I'm paralyzed and asleep, but my dream body is moving around. When this happens, I do a RC, or I simply pull myself up and get on my two feet, and boom I'm dreaming. I can walk around, go out my door and have an awesome lucid!
Don't expect anything to happen, don't keep waiting and waiting. That will only keep you up, if you fall asleep and it doesn't work, then whatever, get over it. That still happens to me, all the time. I'll attempt a WILD, but I just fall into a non LD....
But, the hope here, is try these methods, see what works for you and I believe that you can WILD!!
To me, its the best form of LD out there, my DILDs are short and my control is bad. In WILDs, it is the clearest you will ever see the world and it is the most in your head you will ever be IMO
Hope this helps!!
