      Lightning Dreamwork Game

      Classroom Yoga Dream
I am teaching yoga in a school classroom. The kids are young teen age. We are doing a seated pose, janu sirsasana. It is going really well. They are asking questions and we all have our socks on and shoes off. I am explaining how they need to hug the outstretched knee to keep in proper alignment.

I want to do some balancing poses with them. It is a fun relaxed atmosphere. Another teacher or counselor comes in and the children have to complete some sort of other paperwork that has to be done right then, so our activity is interrupted. I hang around to see if we can get back to it, but even if we do the flow and curiosity of the group has been lost. I politely wait and step aside. I feel a little sad and embarrassed about how the activity has concluded.

This might be the same dream where later on I am leaving and I am looking around for my shoes and they are back in a classroom.

Dream work for Yoga in classrom Dream

Question 1: How did you feel when you woke up? There were no strong emotions to the dream because I had forgotten about it until I began recalling other dreams. This dream was just interesting but not emotional.

Question 2: Reality check, (a) literal (b) symbolic or (c) an experience in a separate reality. Do you recognize any of the people or elements in the dream in waking life? Could any of the events in this dream possibly happen in the future?
Reply: This could be literal or symbolic. I'm not sure about the whole idea of a separate reality. I don't remember anyone specific that I knew. And yes it could happen in real life although with the good and attentive behavior of the students, I HIGHLY doubt it.

Question 3: What would you like to know about this dream? Hmmm. I would like to know if there is a message about what direction my yoga teaching should take. Or if there is a symbolic meaning using yoga as the metaphor.

Now I need my partner to go with Question 4: If it were my dream.........

Question 5: How are you going to honor this dream?

If I should make up my own dream dictionary then this will be a good place to start. I want my symbols to be how I view and understand those symbols and also getting suggestions from other sources. I will also use the color symbols as I know them thru chakras.
Classroom: intimate or very personal type of learning environment. More personal than the school. Where a school might be general or global learning environment where I have to learn things that everyone else needs also, the classroom is things that particularly I must learn or teach. And it is important to know whether I am the teacher or the student in the situation.

If I am the teacher in the classroom then I am involved in teaching others something very personal that is important for their soul jouney.

If I am the student, then I need to learn something very personal to my journey.

The kids are young teen age. We are doing a seated pose, janu sirsasana.

I will have to define what each yoga pose is symbolic of. This pose is a forward fold, so a pose of surrender and repose and of rebalancing. It is one of the easiest forward folds for me. So a way to easily surrender, or a way to easily do something that is very hard. Janu sirsasana for me is a way to easily do a seated forward fold. It makes it accessible.

It is going really well. They are asking questions and we all have our socks on and shoes off.

Shoes will be how you approach life or your foundation and identity. How you travel thru life. But they are also a protection for the body for the journey and they give support. My use of shoes is utilitarian, not decoration.

Socks symbolize warmth and safety in a small environment. Also being unrestricted in movement and action from the small environment and yet restricted because you cannot go very many far places with socks on.

I am explaining how they need to hug the outstretched knee to keep in proper alignment.

Knees: a symbol for humility - like seeking God's guidance or submission to God's will or being open to guidance from higher sources.

I want to do some balancing poses with them. It is a fun relaxed atmosphere. Another teacher or counselor comes in

A teacher represents an authority figure. A respected and revered person. or a way to develop the mind.

a counselor would represent a way to develop the heart or to transform situations and guide. A respected academic guide.

and the children have to complete some sort of other paperwork

Paperwork is like red tape. Busywork that in not that important and actually wastes paper. It is pointless bothersome repetitive actions.

that has to be done right then, so our activity is interrupted. I hang around to see if we can get back to it, but even if we do the flow and curiosity of the group has been lost. I politely wait and step aside. I feel a little sad and embarrassed about how the activity has concluded.

      classroom yoga interpret

How about this being a guide to how my yoga teaching is going.
Things going along swimmingly and in a relaxed, safe, childlike way since we have shoes off and socks on. Its fun and we are doing something easily accessible.

Paperwork or unnecessary busyness stops the flow of the class. Even if it is brought in and must be done by the respected person. So the info and stuff is important, but its still just red tape and busyness. We never get back the flow.

And I am going back to look for my shoes meaning I am searching still for my identity in this situation.

On the occasions where I don't have a set agenda but just go with an unpredetermined flow, the class does go better. It feels better from my standpoint. It just requires a good breathwork to start.

      Skating on the swimming pool

I was on an Olson family reunion with my parents so I must have been younger, maybe teenage. We were gathered around a large outdoor swimming pool. I was swimming and practicing diving and other swimming techniques. The pool was not very crowded at all and just other family swimming and diving.

I had the thought that I would like to show them how I can swim or glide or stay almost on top of the water. It has something to do with the way I breathed. I took deep breaths, almost like filling up a balloon and then I rose up almost to the surface of the water. I began walking around from end to end and then it felt almost like gliding and slowly the water began to freeze and I was skating on the slushy yet solid surface. I was not cold, however.

I noticed there was something on my feet that must have been some sort of ice skate. I was going round and round and back and forth gliding and turning and becoming more and more graceful and coordinated on the skates. It felt like I was skating for an hour at least. The longer I skated, the better I was getting.

Then it was time to leave. I didn't really want to. I had to go collect my things from the downstairs lobby of the lodge or hotel because my parents were waiting for me in the car to go home.

      another pool

Another pool dream came a few days later. During this time I have been learning about the emotion code and clearing my heart-wall. This pool dream came the night after that.

I was with family again only I was the adult and my children were there. We were going swimming again and I remember trying to find a swimsuit that was the right size. They were all too big. I must have found one.

At the pool, it turned into an LDS institute social. There were several smaller pools around the grounds - it was indoors. My family gathered around one and the water was not very deep but we played and splashed and were enjoying ourselves alot even tho the water was not deep enough.

One of the event coordinators came over and said we couldn't be as loud and rambunctious as we had been and tone it down a little. So we did.

      the dream show

I had a fun interview with Jane Teresa on the dream show. Here are some insights she gave from my dream. Diving down deep in water means exploring emotions deeply. Since I didn't do that much in the first dream, but skated and floated above the emotions, it could be that I wasn't ready or wanting to keep diving deep, but that I wanted to stay more on top of emotions and freezing them out. That way I can be competent and able and graceful. This is during the time I was thinking so much about relationship with DH. And in the dream, as a teenager, that was the time that I met my DH.

Those things that D complains about - freezing him out, skating above the emotions, going round and round above the fray of emotion and feeling very joyful, peaceful and graceful about it were all illustrated in the dream. The age it occurred was the same age that I met D.

The second dream could relate specifically to the heart wall experience. The size of the pool - 8-10 people. Could be the experience of when I was 9 with the rambunctious kids. As an adult - which I was in the dream, I could see them as rambunctious. As a child I might have seen them as mean and rejecting. Not enough water or emotion to feel supported.

      Interesting.
