      Post Summer Time

      In the summer time,
      When the weather is fine,
You can reach right up and touch the sky.

Hey guys its the summer, so we are going to have to rely on this forum to communicate. I have been logging my dreams for the past few nights and I can already see some improvement in my dream recall. However, I have not yet had a lucid dream since my first experience. I have been sleeping like 13 hours a day and reading LaBerge's "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming."

So if you have any comments or updates or lucid dreams to report, post them here so we can all see them. In my next post, I will describe in detail my first lucid dream. It would be great if QMaster or OhRobin would post some of their lucid dream experiences.

We are the Dream Team. Enjoy. -The Avatar

      Arrow First Lucid Dream

When the dream starts, I am in some sort of department store, looking for something to buy. The shelves look like the huge metal ones at Costco. On the shelves are several worthless goods and DVD box sets and stuff. I ask someone what I should buy, and he recommends a certain DVD box set. I think it was a Star Wars parody. Each DVD cost $10 and I had $16, so I planned on buying the first one in the series. When I go to pick up the movie case, the box is attached to a huge case of colored sports drinks. I ask the guy why I have to buy the drinks with the movie and he says, "They explain it in the movie." Great.
Then my mom shows up and asks me about what I have been dreaming lately. (It was almost as if my body was trying to tell me I was dreaming... Or it was just taunting me) My mom seems to already know about what I have been dreaming, which leads me to believe that she had been reading my dream journal, so I confront her about it. I ask her, "You've been reading my dream journals, haven't you?" She says no, but I can tell she's lying. Whatever...
A few moments later, in the dream I wake up in that same department store. I guess I had fallen asleep in my dream. The store is now empty and dark. It looks like it was closed. The strange thing was that everything was gone from the shelves, except for that one DVD set that I was going to buy, sitting there alone on the metal shelf... Strange...I ask myself, had they closed the store?...If so, where's all the merchandise? I decide to try a realty check even though I still doubt that it is a dream... really doubt... I got that feeling like "Oh, this is stupid, why am I trying a reality check? This is obviously not a dream." I try to poke my finger through my hand. It stops at the palm, as it should. But then I look closer to see that the finger is slowly going through the palm. I quickly try another reality check. I count my fingers. There are five on my right hand... but when I look at my left hand, I see a second thumb jutting out of my index finger!
      LUCIDITY!
As soon as I realized I was dreaming, I felt like my body melted from excitement. The instant I went lucid, I sunk through the floor of the department store as if that action WAS the realization that I was dreaming.
Flying? Piece of cake! I was no longer bound by any part of my environment, not to mention gravity. I was floating in a sea of darkness until I came to my dorm room. I was floating so that I was halfway through a wall; half on one side, half on the other. Each hand was touching an opposite side of the wall--Anything was possible. I could levitate and go through walls and floors. Then I decided to touch the floor, as QMaster had told me. So I floated down and touched my carpet with both hands to stabilize. At that moment, I felt the most clarity of the whole dream. After that, I began to lose clarity because I attempted to take advantage of my lucidity.
I stand up and imagine a fighting arena... and I was there. It was a huge cement circular ring with a black star in the middle. I spawned a person to fight me. My plan was to train like the Avatar, so I began fighting with Aang's staff, doing spin moves. However, because I am so used to WATCHING Aang fight instead of actually BEING Aang, I kept switching between fighting and just watching Aang fight someone. So I'll have to work on that... My next goal was to attempt airbending, but I lost focus and was woken up before I had a chance to do so.

So that was my first lucid dream. It was actually much more successful that I had expected. I made a few discoveries:
*Reality checks work as long as I remember to do them...
*Flying is not as hard for me as people made it out to be
*Stabilization is key. It is necessary for me to sustain a lucid dream and maintain clarity
*I am able to spawn environments and functional Dream Characters

      Recap:
Objective #1: Consistent Dream Recall: Complete
Objective #2: Lucid Airbending: In Motion
      Status: LD's: 1 Either a DILD or a WBTB.

      My Second Lucid Dream

the first was before I found out what lucid dream was.

It was the day I got into LD. I have heatedly talked with QMaster and Nhurt about Lucid Dreaming. I went to the library to study, but took a nap.

I had multiple dreams. I kept on waking about in between them because the library was very hot. So, in between dreams, I thought to myself, hey why don't I try LD. In between dreams, I also had minor sleep paralysis and could feel the body losing or gaining sense of touch.

In the beginning of the dream, I am peeking out of a man hole. There's a construction around it. It is the framework of a wooden house. Erik Hansen is there with an array of people. He, as usual, chirps me.
Somehow, I realize it is a dream.I got very excited, so I thought of the endless possibility. First of all, I wanted to stop Hasen from chirping, so I said "stop." Rather than shutting up, Erik Hansen, along with all the people, the background around it, disappeared. Gone. Everything was gone, so I was in the middle of this 3D white, empty space. Then, I tried flying, but couldn't tell I was flying because I was in an empty space
      I woke up.

      Funny Dream:

I am in a front lawn with this kid. He says he is waiting for his college decision from Dartmouth. Then, a Zamboni with traffic electric banner strolls over. The banner says, "Congratulations. You've been accepted to Dartmouth."

      Post Dry Spell

I have had no luck all summer in the lucid dream department. I have kept up in my dream journal. I record my dreams every morning; I have consistent dream recall. I also read from LaBerge every night for techniques. I have tried doing WBTB's because that's what worked the first time I LD'ed. So I will set an alarm for like 9, stay awake for an hour or two, then go back to bed, focusing on my intentions for the dream. But no luck at all for months. I could say that I'm having a dry spell, but I never really had a hot streak either...

Oh yeah, and another thing- QMaster keeps saying that he has lucid dreams like a few times a week, but he hasn't posted them! I want to hear them!

So, no success yet, but its okay because We Own the Night.

      Arrow Lucid Airbending

I just had my second Lucid Dream last night. I'd say it was a DILD because the initiation was pretty random. I woke up at 6 in the morning to go to work, but my knee was hurting too much, so I stayed home. Before I went back to bed, I read QMaster's text about one of his recent LD's, so that got me into the right mindset as I was going back to sleep. This is what I remember of the dream:
I found my self in an empty warehouse, where I work. I am near the wall opposite the door. Two of my fellow workers were standing closer to the door. But wait-- I didn't go to work today! Could it be? I go to poke my finger through my palm, but I don't even need confirmation-- I'm instantly lucid.
To take advantage of my lucidity, I do some warmup levitation. I quickly float through the floor and back up though it. Now, I told myself, its time to do what I came here for. I start walking to the door, constantly minding to maintain clarity. There is a short dip in clarity, but I kept my focus and the dream came back a few seconds later. I kept walking as I discovered an awesome new stabilization method. I didn't want to crouch and stop to feel the ground, so I simply kept rubbing my hands together as I walked to the door. I passed the two other workers who weren't really doing anything but staring at me; after all, they were lifeless until my mind told them something to do. I realized that they weren't real people, so I decided to have some fun with them. I shoved one of them and said "DUH... IDIOT!!!" I was having so much fun because I was so happy to be LDing. When I got outside, I was in a city setting. I immediately tried a superjump onto a building. I lept up 10 stories into the air... missed the building and came crashing down to the street. Now, I decided to try what I have always wanted to do.
I planted my feet on the pavement, spun around and thrust my arms outward. A jet of air shot from my arms. I was airbending! I tried it again, this time doing a combo move. I generated a big jet of air with both my arms, then spun and shot two jets with each arm, then spun again and shot a low blast with my hands together. After that, I remember four dream characters ganging up together. I was crouched behind a rock wall at the time. I jumped up and shot some airbending at two of the guys, then crouched back down. I looked behind my and saw a large pool of water. It was time to up the ante. With a sweeping motion, I generated a long rope of water. I stood up, turned around and shot the water at on of the guys. I was waterbending and I just did the Water Whip!
I tried a few more things: I planted my feet and tried to firebend, but nothing came out. My second attempt was met with another failure. Maybe it was because I wasn't going in the right order-- Airbenders are supposed to learn to bend Air, then Water, then Earth, THEN Fire. So I turned back to face the group of goons. They were running away to escape into a water-filled tunnel. The walls of the tunnel were made of earth, so I panned to collapse the tunnel with earthbending. I think I might have shifted a few rocks, but my dream abruptly ended at that moment.
I didn't wake up, I just lost lucidity and the dream changed completely.
So this LD was a huge success! After a long period without lucidity, I finally was able to go lucid and accomplish my goals. So,
      *Lucidity attained
      *Airbending accomplished
      *Waterbending accomplished
*Stabilization method discovered: rubbing hands together

      Next goals: Earthbending and Firebending

      2 DILDs so far.

Nice Work Nick. Keep Em Coming. As for my LD I remember just showing off to a bunch of construction workers. For example, when a large blue garbage truck was blazing down the road I stood in front of it. When it got about ten feet in front of me I hopped up a little and let it go right through me. They were pretty dumbfounded. Then in effort to really show off, I spotted a large crater in the road the workers were filling with cement. I thought some backflips would be cool so I got a running start and did about 4 or 5 backflips over this pit. I got a little carried away because on the last flip I actually flipped in reverse (yes all the same sequence) so I was back over the pit, and then I fell in. They covered me with cement and that dream ended.
*Showing off is fun but shouldn't become a habit

Post Lucidity: Waking in a Dream

Lucidity. The realization that one is dreaming. Right? Well I have had two nights of dreams in a row in which I was somewhat aware that I was dreaming; however, I did not go "lucid." Let me explain.
The first night, I was dreaming that I was watching the X Games live in a stadium/city. I was on an extremely tall and wobbly scaffolding that was transforming. It kept growing levels and getting taller, but the whole time I was simply trying not to fall off. At one point, the thing rotated its top level, and I was only holding on with one arm, like 20 stories above the ground. I managed to hold on, but later I was explaining this happening to a friend in the dream, and I said this: "I held on with one arm and managed to flip back onto the scaffolding. Granted, this is a dream, but it was still scary." -Wait a minute- I KNEW IT WAS A DREAM! However, I didn't "go lucid" like in my other two experiences. This is because I was consciously trying not to think about it because I didn't want to wake up... I wanted to watch the X Games! I ignored this thought so that I could continue my dream.
The other night, I dreamt that I was snowmobiling on a ski mountain. I was going off jumps and doing impossible tricks. However, I have these kind of dreams all the time... where I'm skiing and doing amazing tricks that I've never done before. So, there was a split second during my dream that I thought to myself that I was dreaming. However, once again I shrugged the thought off because I wanted to continue with the dream and not wake up.
These two dreams have made me realize what lucidity is all about. For me, lucidity isn't JUST the realization of dreaming, but it is literally WAKING UP in my dream. Yes. The two times that I have gone lucid, the exact moment of realization is such a powerful moment because it really feels like I am awaking in my dream, or coming to life. This is not to say that I was actually sleeping in my dream though. This is why going lucid is such a tough thing to get for me-- there is such a fine line between going lucid and simply waking up in real life. This is also the reason the past two nights weren't lucid dreams. I chose NOT to wake up, so I didn't allow myself to go fully lucid. Next time, I just need to let go...let myself "wake up," but instead wake up into the dream world.
