Val's Ultimate Dream Journal of Boring Dreams

I am keeping a paper dream journal that I take notes in as soon as I wake up, but I have decided to start a digital dream journal here, as well so that I can elaborate on my notes and also emphasize the importance of this project to me before I go to bed each night.

      Day 1
      Bed Time: 10:30pm
      Wake Up: 8:00am
      Times Woken Throughout Night: 3
      Dreams Remembered: 1
Supplements Taken: 2mg Time Released Melatonin (containing 4mg B6)
      Alarms: 4:30am, and 7:30am.

Notes: I found myself waking up fifteen minutes before 4:30am, not remembering any dreams. I may return to just setting one alarm until later on.

Dreams: I was walking down Grove Rd towards Mums house, and there were some new houses being built on the left. Some wooden frames were up. There was an oldish man working there - he had Daisy, our cat, with him. Daisy, our beloved cat that has been dead for five years. Yet she was very much alive.

That old man told me that he had found a way to heal her, and had repaired her broken bones. I thanked the man and took Daisy with me to mums house.

      My brother was there.

I feel like there was a gap here in the dream.

I was in a room in Mums house - a lounge room - but a new room that hadn't been there before. I was sitting in there, it had been set up for me to sleep in and I was trying to get some privacy because I was trying to watch some inappropriate movies (), but someone kept watching me through a gap in the door.

I went into the kitchen and through the window I saw our two cats on the roof of the house - Daisy, and our other cat. One was sleeping there, the other one walked up to her and started sniffing each other.

Daisy jumped down and walked out of the house, and back to the new houses and the old man. I followed her there, but the old man left with her in his van. He came back soon after with some paperwork and told me that I couldn't have her, and that he was going to sue us for something. He then told us not to worry because he had sorted out a good deal so the court fees wouldn't be too high.

      That is all I recall.

Things and Thoughts: I really should have clicked on the fact that our cat had been magically brought back to life. The fact that the man told me he had healed her made the dream-me accept the fact unquestioning. Also the extra room at Mums house seemed someone out of place at the time.

I don't really recall any feelings or emotions attached to this dream, stuff just happened.

Usually melatonin helps me to have some pretty intense and exciting dreams, but I think perhaps I have been overdoing it a bit lately on the melatonin - but I have been having heaps of trouble sleeping properly.

      Day 2
      Bed Time: 11:45pm
      Wake Up: 8:00am
      Total Sleep: 8:15hrs
      Times Woken Throughout Night: 3
      Dreams Remembered: 2
Supplements Taken: 2mg Time Released Melatonin (containing 4mg B6)
      Alarms: 4:30am, and 7:30am.

Notes: I had a really bad sleep last night. I also feel like I am having trouble remembering dreams. Often I wake up remembering all sorts of exciting adventures - recently I wake up thinking I haven't remembered anything, and then on thinking about it a bit longer I find that I remember a little bit of something really, really boring.

Last night I woke after a dream and struggled to remember anything, I think a little bit came to me, but I said, "I'll remember it in the morning."

In the morning when I woke up I couldn't remember anything, so I lay in bed for a few minutes feeling very frustrated. Eventually a tiny, tiny bit came to me.

Dream 1: I was in a small city - I associated it with Bendigo somehow - it was one of those small towns that has sort of just one main street with shops on it. It was dusk, and I was walking up the street which was also a bit of an incline... I passed a second hand book store. I vaguely recall being horribly upset because Donna had left me or something.

There is also a disjointed segment where I drove down a road (I remember something about a side street?) and I drove through a round-a-bout, but on coming through it I stopped and was hesitant to go for a bit, because I was scared I would hit one of the other cars going through. I waited, and waited a bit, and then went through.

Dream 2: I was at some kind of party, or gathering. It was inside but I was camped outside in this grotty backyard behind a tin shed. I had my backpack there, full of stuff. And I had a sleeping bag rolled out. People were waiting for me to join the party, but I told them to wait as I was drinking orange juice and vodka. They came to meet me, behind the tin shed, because they were sick of waiting.

Currently, my waking life is much more exciting than my dreaming life.

      Day 3
      Bed Time: 12:01am
      Wake Up: 8:00am
      Total Sleep: 6 Hours?
      Times Woken Throughout Night: 1-3
      Dreams Remembered: 0.20 * 2
      Supplements Taken: None
      Reality Checks Previous Day: 7
      Alarms: 7:30am

Notes: I had a terrible sleep last night. I got to sleep just after midnight and woke up at about 1:30am, and fell back to sleep about half an hour later. I woke up again at about 4:30am during which time I tried so hard to remember anything, but couldn't.

By just after 6:00am I had almost decided to get out of bed for the day, when I managed to fall asleep again.

Dream Fragments: My alarm went off at about 7:30am and I couldn't remember anything at all. I fell asleep again and drifted in and out of sleep four half an hour, during which time I have vague recollections of a house that was sort of in the middle of nowhere. Out to the side and backyard of it there was a stream and forest/bush. A car had dropped me off and I crossed the scrub to our backyard and climbed the fence and entered int our house (which clearly was no resemblance to any real house I have lived in).

My sister and brother were there, I was waiting for them to leave so that I could have some time alone.

I woke up again at about 8:00am and drifted off to sleep for about 10 minutes and woke up at 8:10am, during which time I dreamed I was somewhere else... I had just walked out of a house that had a sort of moat, and I canoed across this bit of the water, and then jumped onto a low bridge.

I walked out the front into these sort of sandy paddocks with my mum and brother, we passed a big dam, and then walked off into another paddock.

End Notes: It was really hard to remember some of this, a couple of times I was just positive I hadn't remembered anything, and even now I am wondering if the first dream occurred before or after 7:30am.

Tonights Plan: I hope to be asleep by 11:30pm, and sleep through until at least 7:30pm without too much disturbed sleep. I am trying to lay off the melatonin for a while because it seems to effect my dreams the most when I haven't had it for a while.

Tomorrows Plan: Tomorrow will be day 4, so it is still early days yet. I will attempt to do a minimum of 30 reality checks for the day, and get a good nights sleep even though tomorrow night is Friday night. I am just reading miscellaneous posts on dream-views at the moment to keep my enthusiasm up, but after the first seven days are up I will take more detailed notes for myself on WILD,DILD,MILD,WBTB and sort out an action plan for when I will begin working on these and make sure I know what I need to know.

Because the last few times I have had moments of trying to learn lucid dreaming, I don't think I have learned techniques correctly.

After a few weeks I will try to begin identifying dream signs, and hopefully within three weeks I will have a few more books on lucid dreaming. Within 30 days I hope to have excellent dream recall, and within 60 days hope to be close to attaining lucidity; I just hope the busy christmas period doesn't interrupt my plans too much.

Thanks! I know from past attempts that if I don't do something like this I will lose steam and give up, or not gather all the proper knowledge and techniques together.

      Reality Checks Previous Day: 24
      Alarms: 7:30am

Notes: I've really been sleeping badly recently. I've been waking up at random times, which is why I started taking melatonin in the first place.

Reality Checks: I did 24 random reality checks the day beforehand, and will work on those and build those up for 1-2 weeks after which time I will add some more specific ones.

Dreams: I did have one big dream, but I remembered absolutely nothing to start with. Prior to starting this I was recalling a lot of pretty long dreams, and it is frustrating to have this three nights in a row. I thought and thought and thought. I could not think of a thing.

Awareness: I have bolded this word - I think it is important in this instance. When I was lying there I said to myself, "I'm pretty sure I remember at one stage being aware that things were happening." It was this awareness that made me lie in bed for 15 minutes thinking.

I was lying there and nothing came to me at all.

Then my mind started wandering, and it came to a friend of mine - Leena. And I sat straight up in bed! I suddenly remembered some of my dream - still not much, and no other dreams, but I remembered!

It all started with a text message. It said, "Gee! Thanks for saying hi!" As if to suggest that I had walked past her without even seeing her. The message had a picture of her attached to it, and she was beautiful. I remember thinking that.

I was in the lobby of a hotel. It was dark, it was night time. I received a text message from Nic, it said, "I won this much!" and, "Where are you?" So I walked into the casino - but it was a kind of split level with the current floor in the middle. So there were some steps that went slightly down - into the casino. There were also some steps that went up, and I went up them and ended in this big hall fall of kids and big bench-tables. Kind of like what you see in Harry Potter.

Connor and Matthew were there. Matthew wanted me to play with him, and he picked one end of one of the tables up and wanted me to pick up the other end. I walked to the end of the room... I don't remember anything much else. I'm sure there was more. I have a vague recollection of a train track, a waterfall, abandoned rooms in the casino with strange machinery in them?

I remember... outside. With a bunch of people. I was looking at the photo of Leena again and I searched through my phone to find a suitable picture of myself to send back to her. The group of us had stopped at a crossing, and we crossed the road to an abandoned building. We went into it, and up it... there were floors and floors of stairs, going up in a square pattern around the building.

We got to another room, looked at the phone again... I remember nothing else.

Plans: Almost anything I plan skips the day following the previous night, because I usually hop online in the evening. I hope to reach 75 reality checks tomorrow. Which will be day six.

I think tonight or tomorrow, maybe Sunday if I don't get a chance, I will map out fully my 90 day plan to give myself a better structure and idea of the work I need to do.

Tonight: I think I will be lucky to get to bed by midnight, but midnight until eight is eight hours of sleep so there should be a good chance for some dreams in there. With any luck, I will remember better.

      Reality Checks Previous Day: 48
      Alarms: 7:30am

Notes: The first time I woke up, at about 5:00am, I didn't remember much. It took a bit of prodding to remember.

Dream 1: There was a fast food place, somewhere, in the middle of nowhere. It was squarish, sort of on a hill. Not far from there, there was a river, a winding road, trees, bushes on the side of the road. From the fast food place, I called someone called Carlea... I called her Carla on the phone, and Donna (who was sitting at an outside table with someone else) told me I called her the wrong name. This Carlea had been chased by some people or something.

I went to the bridge, walking along the winding road, I saw the bridge and stood on one side of the river. I could see people, a group of people on the other side, with cars and things.

There was something else. A cat. Walking through a school. I don't know.

In Between: I woke at about 4:30, and I only vaguely recalled bits of the above dream, which is a pity because I thought that after 7-7 1/2 hours of sleep that I should be able to remember more dreams and longer dreams.

I lay there for a while, not being able to get back to sleep, and I didn't feel tired at all. Eventually I gave up and went on the computer. I spent about half an hour reading random threads on dream views and googling lucid dreaming.

I am getting impatient and I have this huge fear that no matter how much work I put into this that I won't be able to do it. I am really afraid of that.

Dream 2: I was at home, it was early morning. Donna said that she was taking the kids to school and that she would be back in 2-3 minutes. I was sitting at home, and a truck pulled up out the front. Then a truck pulled up into the drive way and somebody got out.

I was a bit suspicious as there were two trucks, and something didn't seem right. I snuck down the hallway and out the back laundry door and tiptoed down the side of the house. I got to the fence that looks out onto the front, and I watched through a gap in the fence. I tried to call Donna but her phone was switched off.

I watched as a man got out of the truck and looked around, and in the windows. He walked through the gate, and was heading around towards the back where I was, so I climbed over the fence into the nextdoor neighbours back yard. As I climbed over and fell onto the ground, my phone fell out of my pocket.

Their backyard was big, with lots of trees. I went to the front of the house, which was actually a small homely convenience store. The man in there was middle-aged and had a mustache. I asked him for help, but he said he just works in the store for the neighbour and couldn't help.

I left the little store and around to the front of my house and looked through the window into my bedroom. The man was in there going through my stuff. I ran inside and ran at him, struggling with him to get him to drop my stuff and leave. He untangled himself from me and ran out of the house to his truck, with some of my things under his arm. I tried to stop him by ramming his truck with my car, but he still got away.

I ran inside and tried to call Donna, but her phone was still off. I waited.

She showed up about 6-7 hours later, and she had died he hair blonde. She wouldn't tell me where she had been all that time. I was suspicious. I felt very suspicious. I told her what happened and she didn't care. I remember looking at my room to see what had been taken - and it looked exactly like my room does, and the same things were there, and a few boxes of personal things had been taken.

I started packing my belongings so I could leave and go and stay at my Mums house. I had pulled out one of my old phones, and it was ringing, ringing, ringing. The answer buttons wouldn't work though, and it just kept ringing, so I couldn't answer it.

Meanwhile, Donna had dressed up like some kind of slut (that was my thinking at the time) and went to walk out the front door. I asked her what she was doing and she said she was going to a party. A scummy looking lady came to the door and Donna said it was the babysitter. I asked Donna who the lady was and Donna said, "She'll do."

I was outraged, so I said I would take the boys to mums with me, and drop them off at school in the morning. I told the boys to put their pajamas on and to put their shoes on.

I had become confused about what day it was, and I wasn't sure if it was Saturday or Sunday. And I wasn't sure if I had meant to be at work or not that day. Some policemen showed up out the front, but they left.

A whole bunch of people showed up at the front door and Donna said, "Since you like your work conferences so much, I told them that they could have it here." Hundreds of people poured in and suddenly the house was a lot bigger and there was this huge convention sized room that everyone went into.

There were girls in bikinis serving food - that Donna had apparently ordered, and I was disgusted. Someone was at a podium at the front talking, and I saw Matt and Mark sitting on some stairs watching.

I still wasn't sure what day it was. I tried calling Mum, and I tried getting the boys ready, telling them to pack their things. Then I told everyone to get out. I walked out of the conference room in frustration.

I walked back in, and it was a big room all the little booths to visit. With people walking around looking at them. I walked out again, and when I walked back in it was a huge swimming pool with work people standing around in it in little groups having conversations.

I was in my bathers and I hopped into the pool, and walked down to the far end. The man from the shop next door was sitting there eating some food. I asked what he was doing there. We chatted for a bit, and I swam back down to the other end of the pool with him, and my bathers fell off so I was naked. I must have put them back on.

Daryl was relaxing at the other end, I stopped and chatted to him for a while.

I have another recollection of being on my way to mums, with the kids in the car, stopping off at a supermarket, but I don't know if I am mixing dreams up here.

Dream 3: As I was nearing the end of writing Dream 2, I started remembering bits of two other dreams, but I'm not sure if they were from last night, or just other random dreams I have had. I was running through a city, through city blocks, and kept stopping off at churches and cathedrals and things, that's all I really remember.

Thoughts: Once again I didn't remember Dream 2 on waking up, it gradually came to me; so I am a bit concerned that I'm not -remembering- remembering, but it is still early days and I will take the fact that I remembered so much more of Dream 2 as a good sign, though chances are it's just because I slept for so long last night.

      Am I dreaming?

Interlude: I spent Saturday and Saturday night with my brother, so I couldn't be as focused on dreaming as usual. Reality checks just went out the window as they did on Sunday as well.

I did sleep for a long time on Saturday night, and I had some pretty epic dreams. But because we went to bed late, and I woke up late, I was just too tired to write them down.

It's kind of difficult being 100% focused on trying to master lucid dreaming (I assume that once one is experienced at it, that it doesn't take as much hard work in waking life to sustain it) while leading a normal life as well full of work, friends, and family.

I remember just a few things from the dream: I went to visit Kadri, but was told she had died. I remember running along a bridge with some friends, running through a swamp, and with a jetpack soaring as high as a snow capped mountain peak we could see in the distance. I mentioned that it was not safe!

Notes: I had a bad sleep last night, tossing and turning. I really need to get to the stage where I wake up and remember my dreams, because what I have now is a consistent waking up thinking I didn't remember any, and then fifteen minutes later thinking, "Ah...!""

Dream: I was at a fast food restaurant. It was in a second story, but the building may have been on stilts. The other guys - three of them - were eating chips and pizza and stuff. The restaurant started to close up, and I decided to order some potato gems.

I gave $5 to one of the guys to pay for me, and then he wouldn't pay and wouldn't give it back. We argued for a time, "Give me back my $5", "Give me the $5 so I can pay" and so on.

I got angry and left. I ran - with my hands and legs so I could run even faster apparently - I ran down the road and across the street. I ran down the road, and down one of those little side paths between two houses.

I came out onto a court. Full of really, really fancy houses. Big, fancy rich peoples houses. "This can't be my street" I, or someone else, said, "We don't have a house like this". I walked around the end of the court, past some houses, and past an apartment building. I passed the concierge room and looked in, saw a desk, computer, and man. I walked through the exit hallway and saw a little old lady and an attractive young woman leave.

I passed a room with a largish TV and some chairs for residents to use to watch movies together - I wondered if they were allowed to bring friends. I opened the door to the outside, and let the lady and the girl out.

To the right the road went off to more houses, ahead was an open green area and a big cliff. At the top of the cliff were trees, and obviously more things. My Grandparents were there. Nana was in a vegetative state - had lost all mental abilities and physically was unable to do anything.

They were at the top of the cliff, and we had put them onto some therapy to try and help them. There was some kind of attack - flying vehicles coming in shooting. I tried to climb a vine to the top of the cliff to Nana an Grandpa, but I couldn't get up there. I told them to run, and had a picture of Nana running into the woods.

The - aliens? - came streaming out onto the ground where we were and I jumped into a machine gun turret and started shooting at them all, they fell to the ground, and their vehicles were destroyed.

Once the fighting was over we went to the top of the cliff where Nana and Grandpa had been. Everything up there had been completely destroyed, and nobody had survived at all. I cried, and I cried, and I cried, and I cried.

More: I don't think I will get to do much dreaming tonight, because I have to work until 2am, so chances are I won't get to sleep until 3am. Then I have to be at work again at 8:30am. Good times.

Afternoon Nap: Since I had no work today, and it was pretty hot, I thought I would take the opportunity to have a nap and see what I could see. I took some melatonin, which was probably a bad idea, and went to sleep.

I had no problems falling asleep. I got to... I don't know what stage or what of anything it was, it wasn't sleep paralysis, and I didn't see any hypnagogic imagery, but I kind of drifted close to sleep and felt like my body had gone to sleep but my mind was still awake, and silenced.

Then I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up about two hours later, I don't recall any dreams from here.

Interlude: Last night I slept from about 3:30am - 8:00am. Yesterday I also came down with a sudden cold/flu and temperature and I am really hot, sniffly, and my brain is just not focused. I don't feel good. I tossed and turned all night long. I feel like I remember that I had some dreams, but I have no idea what they would be if I did.

I don't have much hope for tonight as I feel even worse. I will go to bed soon, have a good long sleep. If I dream; good. If not, well this should pass in a day or two I hope and I can get back on track.

Still Deathly: Last night I couldn't get to sleep - it wasn't until about 1am that I managed to sleep. I had a temperate, a runny nose, and my body ached. I woke up a lot of times throughout the night. Tossing. Turning. Moaning. When I have a temperature I get kind of delirious and start mumbling nonsense. It's not good.

No dreams last night. Maybe tonight.

Notes: Last night in spite of the little sleep and the bad sleep I had I remembered a lot of my dreams. I had an almost-lucid experience, but the more I think about it the more I think it was just a dream.

Dream 1: We were on the run. There was me and somebody. Somebody. We had killed somebody or stolen something. We were in an old surburb with big trees, and old weatherboard houses. We came to a dead end, and the police were coming so we ran through someones backyard and climbed their fence.

We came to a sort of truck stop. The sort of places they have on freeways. Petrol and food. We went inside and ate some food. We saw outside walking around, looking around for us the lady that does the security at work. She walked down a road, and while she was looking the other way we made a run for it. One side of the road led to the beach.

We went to the sand and in front of us was beach, to the left were some rocks with violent waves, and to the right a cliff which one could walk around to get to bigger beach.

The other two (two?) ran to the rocks - to throw someone in? Or to jump in themselves so as not to be caught? I ran around the cliff. They called after me, but I ignored them. There were things in the sand and there was a half buried rusted old van.

It was cold and windy. I climbed into the back of the van and it was no longer so cold and windy. I curled up and...

The other two came running up to me, "What are you doing in here? We have to go!"

I climbed out, and we ran. The beach joined into a park, we ran there. There was a playground, and families with children there.

A bunch of cars showed up with police and military people in them. They all started pouring out of the cars towards us.

I stopped and said, "Wait a minute. This is weird."

      "Am I dreaming?"

I looked at my hands. They were melting. And blurry. And fuzzy.

      "Definitely dreaming."

      I asked myself, "What's 2+2? It's four."

I walked around a bit, "What should I do?"

There was a tall sculpture, hollow. I looked at it, then I thought I was going to wake up. I started rubbing my hands together.

      Everything was fine again.

Then I thought, "I should probably try something since I can do whatever I want. Maybe something to do with a hot chick."

I was in a train. There was a attractive and very busty young woman sitting on a seat and I asked myself, "Okay, how shall I do this? Should I sit next to her, or sit across from her? And see if I can pick her up."

I sat down... and thought I was going to wake up again. I rubbed my hands, and tried spinning... and then I woke up.

Dream 2: We were on Mars. Searching for something. Two of us. Looking. We were on the surface, in a thick red liquid. Walking through it, trying to find something.

I asked the other, "Should I go under water to have a better look?" He/She said, "It's probably not safe."

We walked around. We came to a place. We investigated. Then we walked on some more. We came to another place. It was inside. We investigated. There were computer terminals. Books. Bookcases.

A weird alien device in the middle of the floor. The other one was looking at the computer. I inspected the alien device. It suddenly started moving, protrusions came out of it. It connected up to me.

"What is going on??!" I screamed.

I was in another room. Still hooked up to a device. There was an evil Alien Overlord there. There was an attachment to my head and face. An alien face and brain were grafted onto me. The alien said, "How do you like it?" Maniacally.

I didn't want to upset him or make him angry. I nodded my head enthusiastically, "Yes. I like it a lot." And he sent me off to go and wreak destruction and havoc.

Dream 3: I got out of bed at 8:15. Somewhere between 8:00 and 8:15 I dozed off for mere moments, but during that time I had a dream that another video game store opened across from ours.

This is weird. Am I dreaming?

I seem to not be doing to well at the moment. I woke up last night remembering a dream (but not the night before), but was too tired to remember it. The same thing happened in the morning.

I haven't done any other preparation either, as I am confusing myself with different methods and other information. Time to take a step back and collect myself!

Sigh: No memories from last night, except one small one. I woke up. I think I woke up in a dream, "I've done it!" I said. "Hey, look at me!" "Whose the man!" "This is so awesome!"

      And then I woke up.

It may have, or may not have been lucid.

All it shows me is that I have to get my dream recall back on track, somehow. I've got to stop thinking about becoming lucid, and ways of doing it, and just get back to dream recall.

Dream: I am at some bar. I leave to go to some meeting place. I am in a small town. There is a video game store. Out the front of the bar, are some tables and some people standing around talking.

I go back inside. There is the main room, ahead a room that goes into a room with a band playing. To the right is a mens room. I walk in to get my bag of stuff and get changed. I walk in. I walk over to a bench and get my bag. Two guys follow me in. I wonder what they want. I go to the urinal, and I stumble as if drunk.

I want to leave. One of the men tries to stop me - are they going to mug me? He grabs me, and we scuffle. I pick him up, and throw him out a window. I look out the window. We are on the second story. I look down and see his crumpled body below. I conclude to myself: he is dead.

I wondered if I should tell someone. I walk out of the mens' room and approach a desk. I tell a man what happened, and suggest he should probably call the police. He is not interested in my story.

I went into the backroom to see the band playing. I leave, and meet some friends out the front. I tell them about the dead man. We go inside to see the band. There are lots of people, pouring out the door, we watch from behind people pouring out the door.

I tell my friends that I am leaving. I leave, an hop onto a train.

Dream 1: I am carpooling up to a work thing in Melbourne. There are a lot of us going, so we take a few cars. I remember at least R, S, & N. We drive and come to a shopping center. At about 2:00pm. We drive around through a road into the car park. We go into a shopping center. We walk around and look at some shops for food. We sit down in the food court. S walks off, and a woman is watching me.

I go outside. My phone is ringing, I answer it and the others call me and tell me that they are waiting with the car down the hill. I walk down a big grassy hill - it is like a park, a path, trees, grass.

There are two cars. There are lollies in the back of the car. Flight Time & Big Easy are they, they tell me that they will paint my car a new colour for me. I have vodka in the back that I don't want anyone to know I was bringing to a work event. So I tell them that I just need to go to use the toilet. I tell them I am getting the lollies out of the back. I move them around and shove the vodka into my pocket.

I took an eskie out of the car to sit on as well. I walk back up the grassy hill. I pour half the vodka out, and stick the bottle back in my pocket.

My phone rings. I go back to the car. They want to know what colour I want my car. They have a computer screen which they show me.

Weird - it is here that the visual on the screen seems to morph the dream into another one, I look at it and I see another place, which is suddenly where I am, a big building, with archers, and I have a crossbow, to sneak around, and I wake up...

Dream 2: I am driving somewhere with Donna and the boys. We drive into Geelong, but we are looking for parking. We come to an intersection and Donna stops in the middle, "What are you doing? Why don't you go?" She tells me that she is looking for somewhere to park.

We go through a tunnel, and I see the Belmont library. I remember thinking, "Why are we here? This is too far away from Geelong." I see Matthew come out the back of the library, and stand on an overpass-bridge and watch us from a library playground.

We leave the car and we are in a little arcade, with a small cafe. I could not tie my shoelace up. The man from the cafe comes to help me, and ties it up. We have a packed lunch with us, and we tell the man, "We already have lunch with us. But since you have been so kind and helpful, next time we will buy our lunch here."

Am I dreaming? Is this a dream?

Tomorrow will be day 10 of dream recall. Again, I have to work tonight so I will only get about five hours of sleep. I will continue to work on dream recall until the thirty day mark, and by then if I have not achieved lucidity it will be time to shift focus to induction methods.

Another 11 days and it will be time to start analysing dream signs.

Notes: Slept pretty poorly last night. I kept waking up with a stuffy nose. I woke with my alarm at 6:00am, and was so exhausted, I ignored my dream and went back to sleep.

I have been reading lucid dreaming literature avidly, still trying to fully understand the induction methods as they still don't seem to be as straight forward as they could be.

Dream 1: I know that this one was first, but I don't remember much. I only recalled having it after having recalled my later dream of the morning, and a shimmering glimpse of this one came to me.

I am at some big block of land, with houses, a building, we are moving, I have to pack my things. There are magazines.

Dream 2: We are at some kind of dive shop in the middle of nowhere. We have come to it off a dirt road, it is like one of those road houses in the middle of nowhere. It had a big pool. Donna wanted me to swim with the shark in the tank, but I was scared of it, and afraid it was going to eat me.

I spent ages trying to put it off, coming up with excuses, hovering near the water and then backing away.

      I drained the water out.

And thought, "Now I can hop in, and just fill it with me in there."

I set my tank up, and I grab the regs, and I specifically remember thinking to myself, "Okay, (R) is for right... regs go on the right."

Someone else was there, in the office. I hop into the water. The shark is a person. They say something. Something happens.

      Prospective Memory Training

Before going to bed I set tasks for prospective memory training for the following day, as suggested in LaBerge's book. I had to do a reality check every time I:

      * Went to the toilet
      * Had something to drink
      * Used my car

I had a great deal of success with this. I drink sporadically throughout the day, and did a reality check every time. I am trying to do 3-tiered reality checks. My chosen event happens (have a drink), so I look at my hands, and ask myself. I read something and look away and read it again. I look at my hands and ask myself. I hold my nose to see if I can breathe. And then look at my hands again, "No, this confirms that I am not dreaming right now."

Dream Chaining - I have made up this term. It simply means to count the number of dreams I have in a row. So it could be 1 tonight, 2 tomorrow, 1 tomorrow, 0 the next night, would be 1-2-1-0. If I hit zero, I start again and once all the numbers add up to 14 then I will begin working on induction methods.

Tonight while I dream, I will see my hands and realise I am dreaming.

Dreams: I remembered two dreams last night. I was tired though, and didn't write them down. I ran them through my head at least three times each, confidant that that should be enough to commit them to memory and write them down.

      They are forgotten now.

      Lesson learned.

Nap: I had a nap today. I started drifting off to sleep. Hypnagogia, "Okay, just don't fall asleep..." I woke up about an hour later, groggy. I promptly fell back to into what I assume must be a deep sleep.

I think I am going to buy a REM Dreamer.

Special Notes: VIVID DREAM TO THE MAX!!! Last nights dream was really alive, and vivid. It was full of detail, and clarity. It wasn't lucid, though there were lots of keys where I should have become lucid but didn't. I found myself thinking throughout the day, "It wasn't a lucid dream, but it doesn't have to be a lucid dream. It was a quality experience, and I enjoyed it for what it is."

I think maybe accepting the dreams we get and appreciating them may be a mid-way step on my journey.

The Dream - There are three of us, myself and two others. We are in a bushy kind of Robin Hood-esque fantasy land. I had been thinking along those lines before going to sleep - after reading about dream incubation.

[Which I am still somewhat suspect about - in all my years of dreaming, I have seldom had dreams that in anyway relate to anything I've been thinking about].

We walk up a grassy hill; there is a man with a backpack on... I ask him who he is. Where he was from. I don't recall it now, but I did see his face perfectly clear. Nobody I recognize. We walk up an embankment. Up one side through the grass, and on the other side it slants down into a muddy side, and the bank of a huge lake (or is it the sea?)

The man is fishing. I throw what look like windscreen wiper blades [these were obviously out of place, I should have picked up on this] into the water and they stick in vertically, and sink right down. I take this as a measure of how deep the water is, so I don't walk further along the bank.

We are at a castle. There is a gate. We are meant to stop somebody getting in to the castle. We line up strategically around blocks of bricks. A troop of soldiers walk towards the castle, and they have a giant monster-man with them as a prisoner. He unleashes his fury and knocks the guards aside and escapes.

We are in the Great Hall of the castle. There is a table, and people sitting around discussing things. There is the king, and there is George Bush [this was totally weird I SHOULD have clicked at this], they were arguing and George Bush was saying how they need to help. The king (or whoever) asked, "Why should you help? You never did anything while you were president."

George Bush said, "Maybe I realised that I made mistakes."

He stood up and grabbed a pen, and signed some fancy document, "Maybe I learned some lessons."

We then talked about something - some guy - and something I needed to do. I set off on my own to find this evil guy. I set off from the castle, up a grassy hill.

I came to prehistoric Australia [again, in the same book it had mentioned suggestions of what you can do in lucid dreams - go to prehistoric Australia,I I should have noticed this]. There were lots of trees, cliffs, rocks, tall dry grass, wild animals. I could see wild animals running around.

There was a demon who lived in a cave on the cliff face, and he had some kind of gem I had to get. I climbed along the side of the cliff, I was digging. Sticking my arm into the cliff, trying to find the cave. I heard a noise - the cliff was more like a canyon, so there was a huge gap in the middle, and land on either side.

On the other side I saw a giant bear running along, it growled and stood up on it's hind legs. I thought to myself, "I don't think there were bears in prehistoric Australia..." and of all the times throughout my dream when I should have become lucid, I instead said, "Oh well, I guess there were. I hope it doesn't get me."

My dreamself was kind of amused that I had that thought, it's like I was so close to becoming lucid but I just quite reach that point.

I stuck my fist into the cliff again, and it sort of crumbled away. I pulled my hand out, and I had hundreds of colourful gems in my hand. I put them in my pocket and stuck my fist in again and pulled more gems out. I grabbed more and more and shoved them into my pocket.

I decided to leave. I had enough gems and did not want to face the demon on my own. There was some kind of bird of prey circling above. I watched it, and hoped it did not get me. The guy that was me - I don't think it was any longer me, because as he left the bird circled and killed him.

Years later, no longer prehistoric - I sat there on the back of a horse, on the other side of the canyon. Up high, as though searching for the spot of the lost traveller. I saw the cave, and not far from it, up on flat land I saw the remains of the body.

I had some kind of grappling hook - I swung it to the other side, and swung from where I was, across to the other side. I wondered, "How will I get back over there? Oh well, I'll figure it out." Probably another cue!

I climbed up the cliff, and walked over to the body. I search his pockets for the gems, but they were not there. I heard a car, and a police car came from the distance and pulled up next to us.

They saw me looking through his pockets. I remember wandering where the car came from. They spoke to me, I spoke to them.

And then I was even further in the future. There was a housing estate there now, it was no longer a barren empty land, but the canyon was still there. I was in a house, and I walked out of it. It had a nice green grass, two stories, a white picket fence. Fancy houses all throughout the little court.

I left smirking thinking, "They think they're so safe, but one day the demon will come out, and he will get them all."

I was back at the castle. (Is this another dream?) Me and a woman were there. We had to leave, to hide for a while, to hide in an enemy village. Or infiltrate the enemy? We went to a small village, and we had some of the gems to use for money. We were discussing what names we would use to hide our identity. The woman was pregnant.

      I wake up.

Wow - Some bits of this dream were really alive and vivid. There were so many cues for me here. My dreamself as a lot more critical than usual, but not quite enough. Is this me getting closer? Or just me being more conscious of my dreams? Or is it all part of the same thing that gets us to lucidity?

      I am excited!

Is this real? Am I dreaming?

      I experienced false awakening.

Dreams: I am in an old town, small town. The sort where there are a couple of buildings, trade and factory related. I pulled up and parked out the front of an old used car yard.

There was an old building, with old machinery. There is a man at the counter, he says, "I think I might have some things you might be interested in."

      "Like what?" I asked.

He handed me a copy of the game Hotel Dusk, "I love this!" I said, "But, it's not worth anything to me... it has no original case or packaging with it."

I remember thinking to myself, "This isn't one of those dreams where I dream about old school video games, so he isn't going to have lots of old stuff to offer me."

      He said, "What about these?"

He had original copies of Kings Quest, boxed and sealed. Phantasmagoria, boxed and sealed. Gabriel Knight. Lots of old classics like that. I seem to dream about old video games a lot.

There is also a computer store, I walked in. I speak to the man there about buying computer memory off them, and selling it to somebody and making money off it.

There is a workshop, my Dad runs it. An old friend, Andrew, who I have not been friends with for many years, was working there with him. They were building a room. Part school room, part kitchen. I looked at it, and ran my hand over some of the woodworking, "Wow."

Dad held up a piece of wood, "It looks more like a bread box."

It was just a funny looking piece of wood, "At least you've worked the pattern into the side" said he.

He let the two of us go and play, like we were kids again. The other works there wanted to beat Andrew up for some reason. We ran through a hole in the fence of the workshop, running past a basement full of tiber and came to a vacant grassy block.

On the ground was a toy gun. It shoots slime at people. I remarked, "This is the same as a toy gun my dad gave me as a kid... it was called a gloop gun, you put cartridges of slime in, and shot it at people." True story, too.

Two other kids rode up to the block and took it, and ran off.

We hopped onto our bikes, and rode across the road and road through a park. We rode up a hill, down a hill, along a street, through trees, to a school. "Do you want to climb on the roof, like we used to?" I asked.

We rode back to my house, and hung out in my room.

I asked, "Look, what do you guys do these days anyway? I feel like since I've grown up I just don't know what to do with myself anymore, for fun or anything."

He said, "I just do stuff."

      "Like what?"

      "Whatever, don't worry about it."

"Fine" I said, and I repacked my bag, stuffing a whole heap of stuff into the side pocket. I told him not to bother if he was going to be like that.

Dream 2 Sort of: Again, I have the vague scatterings of another dream. At mums house, having lunch with Nana and Grandpa. Nana forgot a word, and she joked about how she was losing her memory and ability to remember words. I was talking to Laurie about shares, as well.

False Awakening: Wow. At about 9:00 am, since I was still a bit tired from waking up earlier, and since I didn't have to work, I thought that I would try napping a bit and dream what I could dream.

I rolled over trying to tell myself, "I will realize that I am dreaming and become aware." It was only moments before I drifted off to sleep.

I had hidden under the covers because the curtains were open and the light was bothering me.

I woke up, and opened my eyes. I could see the room clearly. And it was daylight.

Then I said, Wait a minute, my head was under the covers. I shouldn't be able to see anything. Then I tried getting up, and it was as though a see-through-ghost-like version of me was trying to step up from my body.

Then Donna came in and I woke up...

      BUT!

I only DREAMED that she came in, and I only DREAMED that I woke up. She came in and I said, "Oh! I was trying to sleep! And you've woken me up."

It wasn't until when I actually woke up I realised that #1 I had had a false awakening, and then #2 that I had almost attained lucidity but had not managed to hold it because I dreamed that I woke up.

      What an enigma!

      Am I dreaming?

Special Notes: I had a terrible sleep last night. Each time I woke, I didn't remember anything. I only recalled a dream through chance, this morning. Between 8:10-8:20 I dozed, and during that time I had a very brief dream: basically it involved me getting up, being out the front of my house, preparing to leave for work. Donna was there. Mum was there. Jesse S. showed up on a chopper, like out of Halo.

      There wasn't much.

Kinda hit and miss, but we'll call it a hit for now.

Special Notes: I think from now on, I should attempt to give TITLES to all these awesome dreams of mine.

Last Night: I was in a bad and stressed out mood last night, so went to bed about 10:00pm. I woke up at 5:00am. Can you believe I could not remember a single dream? I seem unable to recall early dreams.

      I will overcome this.

It took me an hour and a half to get back to sleep. I tried doing some MILD, but I couldn't focus. My brain was all icky.

Between when I fell asleep at 6:30am and when I woke up at 8:20am I recalled three separate dreams. Two I remembered only small parts of, one was awesome to the max!

Dream 1 - Drinkin' Buddies at the ol' Department Store

This dream I only have vague memories of. I remember that there is a lot before and after what I remember. A foreign country. A youth hostel. Shopping centers. Gardens. Bridges. Jumping. Running. Other people. Looking for some people. Hiding from others.

I came to a department store. A big one. I went downstairs to an underground section. They had a lot of clothes. I looked through them. Shoes. Shirts. Fancy clothes. I wanted to look better, but I didn't have money.

I walk past some people I recognise.

Walking further on, the room becomes a bar of sorts. There is a guy - with audio instruements, I ask him where everyone is. He tells me that the bar doesn't open until later, and that I should bring some friends with me. I walk outside. It is daylight.

I see people start to go inside. I friend up with some random people. We talk and we go inside.

      We leave. I leave.

I go outside and it is night time. The bar exits onto a sort of little hill. There is a small carpark. Facing the building there is a small motel on the left, and the bar on the right. The road goes off and around to the right and up.

There are two cars parked there. A woman in one calls out to me, and I tell her I don't want anything to do with her. I look for accomodation. The motel is right in front of me, but I tell myself that I want to stay somewhere a little nicer. Without people like that around.

Dream 2 - School Days are Back!

I am at my old high school. I am late. I run down towards the office. I pass my brother, and the principal. He is telling other students off for being late. He tells me that I will need a late pass, and to find my class.

Out the front of the office is a big printout with the classes and locations of them printed on it. I read it, find my class, and run down the corridor. I peer into a classroom. It's not mine.

I see someone else trying to find their class. I can't find mine. I decide that I need to read the paper again.

I run back to the office and look at the board. I look over the years and declare, "But I'm not in any of these classes... I've finished high school... where do I go?"

Shoulda become lucid right about here...

Dream 3 - Hotdog and the Bright Fish

We were on the bus to Melbourne for the work christmas party (which is next week). We stopped at this very surreal place. Some things happen. I just remember getting a hot-dog. (I had a vegan hot dog a few days ago). We got back on the bus and moved on.

The bus came to a place, we went down stairs - an underground building. Someone walked past carrying a lobster of some sort. I wondered what was going on.

One of my work mates pointed out the huge tanks. They were like the sort they have at restaurants where you get to pick out the sea creature that they will kill for you to eat. It was full of different fish, and sea creatures.

I climbed on top of the tanks, and walked along them. I hopped down.

People were walking around carrying fish. I walked past a man carrying a big silver fish. These were real fish, alive fish. People weren't eating them. They were like pets - like a dog - taking it for a walk. I walked past somebody who was carrying a jelly fish - dangling it like a marionette. Another person approached the -counter?- of the store and held the fish up to the person there, as if for the fish to talk to them.

I wondered to myself how all the fish were breathing. I asked, "Are we in some sort of water room? But then how am I breathing?" "Is it a mix between water and air?" "Have the fish been modified?"

We had to leave. Everybody left, but Donna and I were late because we had to stay behind to put together some furniture which we were sending to somebody?

The bus had left, and I was left to drive and meet with them. As I approached the West Gate Bridge I took a turn to the right which instead took me on an underpass under the bridge and I cursed myself - but ended up at a suburban house where the bus and the others were.

It was a little white wooden house with a large grassy backyard. We played and drank beer. People were running around. There was a lady in a wheel chair who couldn't run around like the others. So somebody grabbed her chair and ran around with it - she was strapped in so she wouldn't fall out.

I sat down on the front steps of the house and drank a red bull.

James asked, "So whose looking after you tonight?"

I said, "I'm a big boy, I can look after myself."

Someone said, "That's right, he can."

We got back onto the bus.

All my supplements were there. Bottles and bottles. I said to someone, "Which one did they say I can't take?" I saw a few bottles which weren't supplements that I take, "Not this, this isn't mine." I looked through them some more.

      We drove to Crown Casino.

We walked from the carpark through this big door. There were a few security guards. We walked past them and I said hi. It was like a food court. There were lots of chairs. People sat down at a coffee place.

The bus driver was sitting there at a table. Behind us was an escalator that led into the casino.

Someone said something about him being there to play darts. I asked him and he said, "No, I'm here as an announcer. I'm trying to write a speech." I looked and saw him writing on paper.

I looked again and he was cutting up straws - black drinking straws - into little bits that looked like match sticks. And he had written something out of it - there, right on the table - written with little cut up bits of straws - was my name.

One of the guys was at the counter, ordering coffee. There was a man serving them. The person ordering the drink said, "They sure make some slow coffee here."

      The man serving him grinned.

Nice long dream! - I like it.

I am getting closer I can feel it!

Tonight might just be the night!!

      Reality Checks Today

Currently I have Google calendar set to message my phone every hour, at which time a do a three tiered reality check.

I also try to do one every time I enter a different place - transition from one place to another, and every time I play with my hair, and every time I go to the toilet.

Dreams: I don't recall any dreams from this night. I had a terrible sleep.

      Better luck tonight!
