      Freedom in Flight

I had my first lucid dream when I was young, but I didn't know what it was. I was with one of my best friends at the time, then I looked around and noticed that everything was different. I looked at my friend and said "I think this is a dream." He told me that he didn't think it was, but then I thought in my head to fly, and I lifted off the ground and starting flying. It was an incredible feeling, and felt very real considering I didn't know what it was or how to train it. Then there were several years until I happened upon this site and learned what that dream awareness was called and how to train it.

I started to train it and noticed lucidity happening more often and with more intensity. However, due to other things going on in my life I started to forget about it. Now, I am getting back in touch with it and would like to keep track of my dreams so that I can start seeing patterns and identifying dream signs. The more I think about lucid dreaming while I am awake, the more likely I am going to be to think about it or do a reality check when I'm asleep. Let the games begin!
Why does the eye see more clearly in dreams than the imagination when awake?

Last night the dreams were very fragmented, and I don't remember much.

I was in a wheelchair at my old elementary school (I think this comes from one of the characters in the movie Avatar, as I do not use a wheelchair). I was traveling in the old neighborhood of the school and going up really steep ramps. I also remember something being after me. I was able to stand up and walk around a little bit, but was very unbalanced and weak. I went into a restroom at one point and it was nasty and flooded.

I remembered more when I first woke up, but I made the mistake of waiting too long before I wrote it all down.

I had two very vivid dreams last night.

      1) I was in a car with my dad, and he was driving. We were going through an urban area of some sort, and there was no guard rail on the side of the road. That has happened in previous dreams, so I recognized it as a dream and told my dad. I then wanted to prove it to him (one of the few dream characters that did not ask me to prove it was a dream) and I closed my eyes and imagined the steering wheel in front of me. I was trying to get it to fully transfer in front of me, but instead there were two, but I had one so good enough! I made the car lift off and fly through the air. one of the things I like to do in a dream is talk to my dream characters, so I tried to make the dream more vivid (by looking and studying my hand) and it worked. I actually had him do it too, which was interesting but I don't imagine it made a difference. I had a great conversation where I asked him if his thoughts, speech, and action were entirely under my control since he was in my dream. It was very interesting, because he told me that he didn't really know, but he thought for the most part they were. I usually get cryptic answers from dream characters, but that one was pretty straight forward. I then asked why it seems that he is a different person that I can't control or mind read, and I don't remember his answer and woke up soon afterwards. Pretty solid dream!

      2) This was an adventure dream of some sort, but I don't really remember it as much. I became lucid by pressing my finger into my hand and having it go through (one of the reality checks I have been doing FINALLY carried over into a dream!) I looked down at my hand to focus and became very aware of my surroundings. I then told my dream characters it was a dream, and they asked me to prove it. I saw a highlighter on a table (I used one at work yesterday so that's probably where that came from). I told them I was going to use telepathy, even though I meant telekinesis, and lifted the highlighter off the table, disassembled it in mid air and put it back together. We then proceeded to adventure and the lucidity slowly faded away and I woke up. lol, I wish I would have done something cooler, but at least I was lucid.

The lucidity is happening more often! I am looking a lot at clocks and trying to press my finger through my hand (as reality checks). I don't remember having two in one night, so I am excited!
