      ipreferpi's Dream Log and Interpretations

I meant to get this up earlier, but I haven't been remembering my dreams lately (which is unusual for me) until this morning, but this dream more than makes up for it.

There were actually a few dreams/sections that were either separate dreams or were parts of the same dream, but I'm not sure how one fed into the next or which order they were in. I'm putting them in the order I think was most likely.

      1. My mom, younger brother (only sibling), dad, and I are going to the Olympics except it is the 2002 ones in Salt Lake (we live somewhat near there). On the plane ride in, there is some sort of plane crash/explosion and my brother and several(or a few hundred?) other people die. Along the lines of 9/11, but smaller scale. Then we bring these strange "necklace" type things that are made of plastic/rubber and very thin... they look like they were designed for some practical type of purpose, not for decoration, and certainly not for people to wear. Each of the people who'd lost someone they loved brings one for every person they lost, and the pile is filling up. Someone responsible (either feeling guilty for not having prevented it, or even played a minor role in planning it, I don't know for sure) is watching the pile grow and she comments on how there were so many more necklaces than actual deaths, and she didn't realize how many people were hurt when just one person dies.

      2. My mom, dad and I are staying at my uncle's in a different town. We are visiting either the California coast or the Olympics (both showed up in my dreams)... My aunt asks us to stay, of course. She invites us downstairs to show how she's redecorated, and the many many leather sofas, comfy chairs and recliners are all in the one room basement. The ceilings are huge and have small accent lights in them (contrary to reality), and all of the chairs are nicely spread out through most of the room except there is one corner where my aunt has stacked the chairs and couches in a big ugly pile that reaches nearly to the ceiling.

      3. My mom and I are driving in the car and we're talking about this famous person who is a friend of ours (the name Paris Hilton comes to mind. Ditzy blonde type) who was dating another friend. They were just breaking up. The man was impatient because he'd done a lot for the famous girl, but she was just casually dating him. He wasn't after sex, but wanted a serious relationship, and she just wanted to have fun dating, so he was leaving her. Then my mom and I see her, and we start talking to her. I tell her about how she's getting older, gaining weight, and less popular. I tell her she can't just have fun dating cute guys forever, because eventually they will lose interest. I also say that having someone to love is more important than having a good time dating all the cute guys you want. She kind of blows me off, and I continue to talk to her. As we were/are talking, we walk down to a train where my mom and my brother are getting on to go somewhere. Celebrity girl and I are going too, but we're so absorbed in our conversation that we don't get on the train and it starts to leave. I worry about my mom and my brother, since they got on without me, but as we're leaving the train area (to go back to my uncle's), I see the train pull up again and my brother and mom get. They tell me they don't want to go if I'm not coming.

      4. This really cute guy and I are visiting the California coast. I mention about the time my family went to Florida (not true IRL). The water is so warm, and the sun and the beach are so nice. I sit in the sun with this guy just talking.

      5. There is a man and a woman and a child, none of whom are related. I am unsure if I am watching them or if I am one of them (the woman). They are trying to solve the answer to a puzzle, and people's lives depend on it. The child is a prodigy, but young. I get the feeling this is like a TV show or something, and all the people are beautiful and the circumstances are dramatic. They are in this dark, wooden room that is breaking down, and there is sunlight getting in from the roof. They are so worried about solving this puzzle, and it is a jigsaw puzzle, but there is more to it. The man is working on it, but the woman and the child are nagging that it is not fast enough. The woman starts to freak out and cry a little, so she calls her husband back home to get his help. He doesn't talk to her enough to understand, and he thinks she is just calling to say hi, so he gives the phone to her own child (younger than the child helping them), and the young girl says something that the other people hear through the phone, and the child prodigy gets a eureka moment and proceeds to solve the puzzle.

      6. Continuing off with the puzzle, but now in a new context. My mom and brother (he is back alive), are putting the puzzle together. We finally get it finished, and like in the previous section, we need to do more than put it together, we need to figure out what the art that's on the puzzle signifies. It's very vocal art, with heavy symbols and a "loud" message. Here is a description and sketch:

(please excuse my bad sketch, just 2 seconds in MS paint to get my idea across)

In the center there is a large tree.
A man is hanging in a hook attached to a rope caught in the tree.
      This man is dead.
The other end of the rope is attached to a kite that is caught in the tree.
There is a yellow hook thing in the tree also, which we call the half-moon.
Attached to the half-moon is another string which leads to another kite. (right half of the image)
The other kite is flying in front of the sun with another man attached to it.
He is similar to the first, but he's alive.
On the left half of the image, there is a field of golden wheat, but there is a very square area that is bright blue.
In this invisible blue box stands a TV stacked on top of some boxes, with a political commentator on the screen (cartoonized. I recognize him neither in the dream nor IRL afterward).
Also in the blue box is a sheep/lion that looks almost like a plush toy, and its eyes look very dumb.
Finally, behind them, outside of the box stands a tall Zeus/God -esque figure in robes that is partially translucent.
I read on the box that he is meant to look like the artist.
He is shooting an arrow with a half-moon tip, two hooks and two kites attached, similar to the contraption the dead man and the other man in the center and the right of the image are caught in.
Behind it all is a blue sky.

I don't remember all that I say about the puzzle when talking about it's meaning. We are discussing the meaning more for fun than because it's important (difference between this and the previous section). I ask my mom who the dead person and the other person are supposed to represent, if it says on the box, because I remember her mentioning their names earlier and they were two different people, but this time they are not talked about on the box.

      End of Dream

Some relevant information for dream interpretation:

On the puzzle: http://www.amazon.com/Ceaco-3401-5-O.../dp/B001C6XO3G was the puzzle my family did this Christmas, and it has a tree in the middle, similar looking sheep, similar looking color style, and the same blue sky and general balance as the dream puzzle. Also, the sun is in the same place in both.

My brother is about two years younger than me, roughly 16 and still at home, while I'm off to college. He and I are very close.

I talked to my mom on the phone not long before I went to bed, and I was thinking about her, because she said I'd have to start paying for my hair coloring.

I have never been to the California coast, or any warm sandy beaches for that matter (commonly visit the Oregon and Washington coasts, though), and I have never been to the Olympics.

My aunt has a weird decorating style IRL, and she does have a lot of leather couches, and a large basement.

Also, the last section is the only section I'm absolutely sure on the placement. It definitely was the last dream I had, and it was after my boyfriend got up and left for class. I think all the stuff about the puzzle has to do with me trying to interpret my dreams.

Please tell me what you think, especially if you have any ideas on interpretation. Dream interpretation is my favorite part about dreaming, and I won't criticize you, so don't be shy to share your ideas! Also, other comments not about the interpretation are welcome.

Okay, I think I've figured out what the last section means/represents. (To me, this one is fairly obvious since I woke up before I had this dream.)

Since one of the first things I do upon waking is think about my dreams, make sure I can remember them and if I had one, post it/interpret it, I think this dream is about my dream interpretation attempts.

At first, we are putting a puzzle together, which is like remembering the dreams.
Next, we are analyzing the artwork on the puzzle, which must be the dream interpretation. My mom is much less interested in interpreting the puzzle symbols than I am in the dream, so maybe that's like my searching online for people to help me interpret dreams. My boyfriend/friends/parents/people online do not seem very interested in helping me interpret my dreams, which makes me mad sometimes, but it's understandable, since they're my dreams, not theirs. Also, it's something that seems important to my dream world (like section 5), but not as urgent once I'm awake, and much less important to the people around me. So all of this fits with the dream, and I don't know what else it could symbolize. This makes a lot of sense too, since it was probably what I was thinking about as I fell back asleep.

No memorable dreams last night. Was out late watching Shudder Island and I remember waking up a lot during the night, but I couldn't differentiate thinking about the movie from any possible dreams I may have had.
