      Any advice?

Hey everyone...I am new to this and have never had a lucid dream but am very interested and eager to have one. I have been working on dream recall and usually recall 2 to 3 dreams a night, at least one, pretty vividly. I also have started a journal and have noticed several things that could be dream signs.

My question is how do I make the next step? Before falling asleep I tell myself I will have a lucid dream and try to remember to do reality checks...but I can't make myself do them.

Any tricks or methods that have helped you guys achieve lucidity?

You should be more specific. Try to effect one event. Try to tell someone in the dream that you are in fact dreaming. The more specific your drive is, the more focus, the better the results.

Right now, don't concern yourself with all the side show stuff, just do the event.

If you are having 2-3 dreams a night, you are ready for the next step. The dream journal is awesome, you now have some dreamsign. Do reality check as often as you can in your waking life(atleast 10 times a day)...Always when your dreamsign occurs.
Read every tutorials in the tutorial section. Learn techniques and see what works best for you. DILD is mostly the technique that beginners begin with.
I recommend the book ''Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreaming'' by Stephen Laberge. Most(if not every)experienced lucid dreamers read it atleast once.
The Reflection Intention technique is the technique that brings your intention to reality check in dreams.

Thanks for your responses. I will keep working at it, I guess patience is the name of the game.

I am assuming you guys have experienced lucid dreaming. I'm curious to learn more about what they're like. How often do you have them, how long do they last, do you think as clearly as you do when awake? Having never had a lucid dream (to my knowledge anyway) I'm just wondering what to expect, I don't want to miss it!

How often?...Well depends from person to person...For me, it is few times a week.
How long?...Depends on your stabilization skill...Can be as long as your REM period is.
And yes we think as clear as we do as awake...Even more I would say.(You are living the present...)
Hope that answers your questions...But you have to know that it's different for another person.
Can take 1 night to get your first lucid dream as it can be 2 years...
But the more motivated you are, the more quick it will be.
