My Dream Recall is Fine, But My Clarity is Horrible

So as said in the title, I can remember a good 2-3 dreams a night, but they are all foggy, sometimes very horribly. I can remember exactly what happened, who, what, why and all that, but all of it is foggy. Is this just a general recall problem or am I missing some nutrients that have something to do with that or something? What I'm getting at here really is how can I have more vivid and clear dreams?

In some of LaBerge's work I've read that very small doses of hallucinogens (not enough to keep you awake) can lead to very vivid dreams.

Apple juice is considerably easier to get & a bit less illegal, so maybe that is a good place to start.

I've also heard of a lot of people taking B6... I'm not sure what that is supposed to do to your dreams.

I'm also having trouble with clarity/vividness... my dreams often seem foggy & disconnected.

For me, I tend to improve on my clarity the more details I try to record in my dream journal. Over time, I start to remember more details. I guess it's like me saying to my brain, "Hey, guess what? I do care what colour the walls were and what clothes the DC's were wearing!" (I don't ever write those details, but you know what I mean?).

Also, clarity tends to improve if I wake up more often to take notes. If my recall is taking a dive, I will start what I call my "recall-building process," and that is, after a core sleep (usually 4.5 hours), I will start to wake up every 90 minutes after that to take notes on my dreams.

Well I tried the cider, well what I had left. Apparently my brother drank most of it, so I only had roughly a cup. Well I drank that, and I don't know if it was just placebo or not, but my dream clarity was significantly increased. Not an amazing amount, but things were clear. I remember something significant about an apple, but I remember actually seeing the shine on it, definitely liking anything apple now lol.

I seem to have foggy/dark dreams myself. It's quite annoying really. I'm trying to write more details in my dream journal than I normally would to try and improve it a little. It does seem to be working a bit though. Never tried the apple juice, I'll have to look into that.
