      Trouble With Recall

Hello, lately i have been trying to attain lucidity. I am fairly new to lding and was wondering if you guys could give me some advice based on what I am going to tell you. So the past few nights i have tryed to lucid dream i took 2mg of melatonin and a b6 vitamin. I feel that I have actually been lucid and having an awsome time because i keep waking up at around 3:30 in the morning when im going to bed at 10:00 which should be my third REM cycle based on what ive read and i do not normally wake up at this time. I have tried listening to mp3's before i go to sleep and listening to one while sleeping. The only problem is that when i wake up in the middle of the night i have no recall of the dreams. However, last night after i woke up and went back to sleep, when i woke up for school i still had no recall until after i got out of the shower. Then it hit me, i remembered a dream that must have been about 5 minutes. I was arguing with another student at school but was not lucid. Any tips or Information would be greatly appreciated.

      -thanks, TMR

I have found that keeping a dream journal to be the perfect method for increasing dream recall. Just make sure you try hard when trying to remember your dreams, dont spend like 10 seconds thinking about it, think for like 5-10 minutes everytime you wake up trying to remember your dreams, this should help.

Another thing that I believe, in my opinion, is increasing awareness, try to keep your awareness on the "Now", or the task at hand, such as walking, sitting, reading, etc. Increased awareness might result in increased dream recall.

Also, I read on this forum an advice from a guy (I can't find the post) which has been doing wonders for me (15 dreams in 6 days, with an average of 2 and an outstanding 5 dreams per night).

Keep a daily journal. If you keep a journal of your day (not an emo-kid diary, more like a log of what you did, who you met, what you talked about) you will generally improve your memory, and your dream recall with that.

I tried and I've got to admit it really works.

Here it is, I found it: http://www.dreamviews.com/f15/if-you...ams-try-93005/

I've been doing the wake up by alarm method and it works. I haven't even practiced for a while cause i ve been injured but lately i started doing it again and i remember dreams.
after a while, you don't even need the alarm, you can make your self wake up on your own. i don't know why that happens, but it's true.

but if you say the mantra, I remember my dreams. then it keeps with you and you do remember.

Hmm... writing a daily journal. I've done it before, but I could never stick with it. Then again, I usually wind up writing down my thoughts and feelings at the time, instead of what actually happened that day. I think too much, sometimes... Maybe if I stick with just the memories of what happened, like I try to do with my dreams... My memory is pretty atrocious too, and I always figured working on it and on awareness would help. Well, we'll see~

I find that recall is a lot harder when i know that i have school the next morning, i thing its just a psychological thing really, the stress of thinking about school, I've only been recording my dreams for a week and a bit, on school days i never seem to remember my dreams but on weekends they seem to be a lot more vivid and detailed. I think maybe stress plays a part in the process, just trying to stay stress free will help

Well, I've been sick for the last few days, and I found that flu totally destroys my dream recall. Couple that with not keeping a journal (really not in the mood to), and you get a "start everything over". D'oh.

The daily journal can actually work. It makes you more aware throughout the day because you know in the back of your mind that later on you're going to be writing it all down. So that most likely helps with recall

Dr. Stephen LaBerge recommends that you don't try to lucid dream until you can recall at least one dream per night. I'd say stop taking the supplements and listening to the music and just sleep normally for at least 8 hours. Keep your DJ and you should be fine.

It takes time attaining lucidity. Just stick with it and keep a DJ. Take the b6 but lay off of the melatonin Unless you have sleep insomnia.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride
