      importiance of dream journal?

im not that experienced at lucid dreaming myself, but im in one hell of a dryspell thats long for even me. ever since my brother found my dj and shared it with some friends, ive discontinued it except for writing the lucids on my phone. i have pretty good recall naturally and i really dont see any reoccuring dreamsigns, and before my dryspell had lucids without the journal. so im wondering if the journal is that importiant for DILD? if it is and stopping it has caused my dryspell i might start it back up again.

1.punch your brother in the face / dont worry about what other people do / think / say
2.i use my phone mostly for my DJ too
3.DJ's are usually key for recall and lucids, i'd get back into it

Contrary to popular belief, if you have natural recall, the DJ is only important to not forget your lucids over the years, but thats about it. Otherwise, very important. Also, I wouldn't care about people knowing what I dream about, if anything that would creep then out lol

Sorry Hukif, but I think you're full of it. Most people on this board will tell you that there dream recall, and subjective length and vividness of those dreams, increase significantly as they start actively keeping a DJ.

I would definitely consider myself to have 'natural recall', i.e. at least one dream a night even when I don't care about dreaming, and I too notice a pretty frickin' dramatic change in my recall when I start DJ'ing.

Well, by natural recall I mean at least 4+ dreams a night without a DJ. I have been using a DJ for the past two years or so, and I still have to see even the slightest increase on my recall. It might not be that common, but it exists.

Yeah, I would say for 99% of people you pretty much have to keep one just so that you are in the habit of recalling your dreams, but if you can recall 4+ dreams without it then you don't. There are tribes in S America where everyone talks to each other about their dreams everyday and they have good recall(maybe even LDs but I don't remember at all, read this somewhere a few years ago). I went through a period where I was sleeping with this girl and I couldn't dream journal(well I could but...) and I was able to have LDs every 3-4 days in spurts. I just layed there in bed with her and thought about my dreams instead of getting up and writing them down. I got to the point where I could remember dreams I had 4 days ago without any aid.

But yeah, keep a dream journal, if you have trouble with recall it will do wonders, and if you can't recall it's pretty hard to get lucid.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

i only thought i didnt need it since i can remember 3-4 dreams a night pretty well if i can sleep as long as i want. i forget eventually but same thing with a DJ. i dont see any dreamsigns but i think ill start up again, it cant hurt and if i start having lucids again ill know it worked, if not ill know it dosent make a difference for me.
