Question about MILD reality checks and becoming conscious...

I've been making a nice bit of progress on my sleeping. I used to never remember my dreams, and suffered from frequent insomnia. Using relaxing and meditation techniques I've been able to relax my mind and begin to sleep much easier. I also started keeping a dream log and I am now remembering at least 1-3 dreams a night.

I've noticed a pattern in my dreams lately...the past four nights I have dreamed of either two things, usually both in the same night. The first sequence I will be with friends or family staying in a hotel at some sort of event...one night I dreamed I was staying in a hotel on a school trip.

The other is always a friendly gathering of some sort, be it a concert or a party.

Even though with all these similarities, I still haven't had any moments where it clicks to question my reality and perform a reality check. I have been performing RC's at certain points during the day, and I put up some pieces of paper in my with "Am I Dreaming?" written on them just so I will always see it and think about it throughout the day. I go to sleep telling myself that I'm going to dream and that I will become aware that I am dreaming...but I haven't had that moment where it just clicked.

Do you guys have any tips or advice on how to improve this and maybe use some of these dream signs I've been having to help me attain lucidity? Appreciate any help you can give me?

it takes time to transfer waking life reality checks into your dreams, ive been doing them for about a year now and ive only done them in a dream around five times(most of them failed), pretty bad eh, maybe mild's just arent for me. When you do your reality checks make sure you actually make a big deal about them, take your time to look at your surroundings, look at ur hands, ask urself how you got here and just really observe and ask yourself if everything is normal. I've had some dream signs to like smoking weed so whenever i smoke weed i try to do a reality check but getting high sorta makes it hard to remember. Just keep doing what your doing, it sounds like your getting a lot of reality checks in per day which is something i need to work on but i suck at reminding myself to do so. GLHF
      Smoke weed and dream on!

You need a pretty good prospective memory to be able to remember your dreamsigns and when to perform a reality check.

What techniques have you been using? I would be very interested in finding out. I have been unable to fall asleep quickly because my coursework is stressful.

I've never had a DILD because of this, but I have had two DEILDs, however short they were it was an amazing experience. You never forget that feeling of a failed reality check. Breathing through your nose while you've pinched it is insane, almost like you can feel the air going through your fingers.

Maybe if you were to succeed in a DEILD or WILD you would be able to remember that feeling of being in a dream, and it might help you DILD. However, that is entirely unfounded speculation on my part as I have obviously been unsuccessful in remembering a situation in which this has happened to me.
