odd dream recall timing (as well as quite a freaky dream)

(the following italics simply copy/pasted from my journal, as it's the easiest way to go)
I had a most bizarre dream last night... and didn't remember it until I got in the shower. The second the jets of hot water pounded into my back, it hit me... full recollection, when I hadn't even the slightest thought of it previously. I suppose the shower had a connection. No, I don't 'suppose', because it DID.

I was in this odd underground sort of chamber.. now that I think about it, it seemed a bit like a tomb within a pyramid, or something. Mayan architecture; I recall this distinctly, and the walls were of stone decorated in the Mayan style... the chamber was bare, except for a modern bathtub, a rather large one. I can't remember the color, but I KNOW it wasn't white. Probably some sandy color to go with the walls. The floor *looked* like a dirt floor, but didn't feel gritty.
I wasn't myself. I was, but I wasn't; possibly older? Taller, with longer hair, but I had a sense of myself. There were no mirrors, so I couldn't obviously LOOK at myself, but I just knew that I was taller somehow (or maybe I just had better posture?) and I could feel the longer hair tickling the middle of my back (whereas mine actually only reaches just below the shoulders). I was alone...
Until I got into the bathtub, which was full, the water lukewarm with the slight chilly edge that warm water that has sat for a period of time takes... I was alone, and then behind and underneath suddenly someone "appeared" (which is really a bad word for it; I didn't feel him suddenly there.. it was more as if I just hadn't seen him). His arms reached around and grabbed me and pulled me down more until I was almost laying down, and at no point yet had I actually seen him; I still didn't, or maybe my eyes wouldn't let me look. It was his voice, though, that greeted. He let go, and his hand moved down to my waist, and I told him no, to which he replied, "We're just like brothers, it's all right." (his use of the word 'brothers' struck me as odd; I'm not male, nor was I in the dream.) I'm not sure what the no was to, exactly, though I recall thinking he was making sexual advance.
Then there was a struggle, during which I was pulled under, and I don't recall much vivid detail about this part; all I actually recall was the struggle. It happened very quickly, almost like watching a movie fast-forwarded and then suddenly stopped and played at normal speed; He was holding me under, face down, knee on my back, drowning me. And I died/woke up.

Why I didn't even have the SLIGHTEST THOUGHT about this until I got in the shower... I have absolutely no idea. It was very odd how the water gave my memory a complete kick, but I'm so confused as to how I didn't remember a dream as strange/disturbing as that. It's not every night a friend drowns me...

I also don't know yet what to make of this dream in terms of any interpretation, which is strange because usually I'm very good at interpreting dreams that I know have some sort of meaning; I'm fairly confident that this one does, indeed, have a significant meaning, I just can't... get started on it... if anyone can make anything of this, feel free to tell me. o_o[/i]

Wow what a strange dream. Im thinking maybe you've had a recent experience of someone betraying a friend of yours. Thats probably the reason you were out of self. Or maybe you starting to distrust a friend. I know water is supposed to signify freedom and in regards to that perhaps you're starting to feel a sense of freedom in everyday life but somethings either holding you back or holding you down.

It wasn't so much that I was out of self... just not exactly the same. Maybe a future self? That's what I'm thinking now...

That may be valid. In terms of recent events, I'm having to pick and choose who I trust with what, as the wrong thing could mean my not getting the transfer I want. The friend in the dream, however, was the one I trust *most*, which makes me not like this interpretation (but whether I like it or not isn't actually an issue; whether or not it's accurate is the matter at hand, and it could very well be).

Funny that you mention that, because two months ago I was telling the same friend mentioned above that if I did stay in town, he'd be the reason why, because he doesn't get along with his family and we're very close.. but again, in light of recent events, I just can't stay here anymore, I've got somewhere else that I need to be, and he knows that... perhaps my subconscious is saying that he's not comfortable with my leaving?

Hmm. I'm still not exactly sure what to make of it - the events of the dream interest me less than the setting, which is kind of rare. I have no idea what to make of the chamber or of the Mayan architecture. I usually don't encounter details that bizarre and incomprehensible in my dreams.

Yah the Mayan Architecture threw me also I have no idea what to make of that at all. But perhaps someone has some sort of revelation toward the meaning of it and the chamber

I need a map of your head, translated into English so I can learn to not make you frown.
You’d feel better if you’d vent, put your frustrations into four letter words and let them out on mine, the most weathered ears in town.

Going to be all right? o.O Of course I am. Dreams rarely throw me into emotional turmoil, and this one's just strange. I'm feeling mostly curiosity, though it was kind of weird to have my best friend drown me. o.O As long as he doesn't actually do it, I think we're fine. XD

That sounds exactly like a past life experience. Especially since you said you had a strong sense of self, but a different self. If it wasn't a past life experience, then I would definately recommend that you be wary of a close betrayal at a time when you are most vulnerable. The drowning suggests something overwhelming. The fact that he said you were like brothers suggests that the betrayal may come from someone very close to you. It's scary and you probably don't want to hear stuff like that. I know and I'm sorry, but I'm just telling it like I see it. I hope I'm wrong.

As far as the complete recall in the shower, that doesn't surprise me. Our senses trigger memory, for example the smell of a certain perfume could remind you of a late loved one. I had a similar thing happen to me when I was frequently regressing into a past life. Every time I got into the shower, the sound of the running water would trigger the memories.

We usually aren't very good at interpreting our own dreams. I'm guessing this is due to the fact that we generally don't like to admit what's right in front of us. That's why it always helps to talk about it with someone(s). They may interpret symbols in your dream in ways you hadn't thought of, or in ways you didn't want to think of.

Eh, I'll deal with it. I'm thinking it may be that betrayal, yes, whether accidental or intentional... my getting a transfer may rely on certain information not getting back to my family (part of the reason FOR my transfer), so maybe that's it. o.O I'm not sure it's a past-life experience, because of the modern bathtub and running water/fixtures. But the chamber. o.O

I just find it kind of disturbing that unless I had taken that shower (I had showered the night before, and really didn't NEED to, but did anyway), that dream would've fallen into the void of forgotten dreams.

      Yeah, I'm usually better with my best friend's. (the best friend that was IN this dream... yeah. >_>) He's the only one with any sort of dream recall ability, and the only one who gives a rat's ass about interpretations, but my interpretations of his dreams have been pretty dead-on. My own, however... ^^;
