      music's effect on dream remembrance

so i usually listen to owl city before i fall asleep. but ever since i started that, i havent been dreaming, and it seems as if the only nights i dream are when i DONT listen to owl city?

could this be a coincidence? or is there some connection? well i know ive been dreaming, but does the music effect how i recall them?

I think it is probably just a coincidence. Music shouldn't effect your recall. However if you expect that it is what is causing you problems it probably will because of placebo.

nope, that isnt what i was thinking, but i was just making sure. well, then i guess ill keep listening to help me fall asleep. do you think it just takes my focus off my mantra too much, giving it the last word instead of the mantra?

It is possible that the music is distracting you as you fall asleep. My dream recall is best when I go to sleep with the intention to remember my dreams as soon as I wake up. If I am watching a movie or listening to music, my mind is not entirely centered on dreaming.

well ill try listening to music again, since its one of the only ways i can fall asleep, but instead of focusing on the lyrics ill focus simply on remembering my dreams, and even trying to tell myself ill have a lucid dream.

Could you try some sort of instrumental music?

I always listen to music before I sleep normally relaxing Hip-hop such as Kid Cudi. However I do this sitting at my computer and my recall is still 5-7 dreams a night. I don't think it will make any difference unless you let it.

Isochronic tones can help sleep and may even help you gain lucidity
I was so much older then, I'm younger then that now.

It shouldn't be a problem, but like those above me have said, don't use the music. Try finding other bands, or none at all. It could be a placebo effect
