Got problems with my dream signs

I often get my lucid dreams randomly but I always, always notice that I'm dreaming when I'm being chased by someone or when I close my eyes and is not able to open them again (It's like there is glue on my eyes and I can barely see). I guess those are my dream signs, right?

The problem is that I never have the time to practise my "powers" in my dreams!
Let's say that I'm being chased by a murderous clown/zombie with an axe (happened before) and when I finally notice that I'm dreaming I can only think of getting away from it. I always try to summon stuff that will kill the chaser but it never happens and I always get so frustrated that I wake up. I have to be in a calm place to be able to concentrate but it never happens in such dreams.

In dreams where I close my eyes and they get stuck, it is also hard to concentrate.
Ex: In this previous dream I had I was running and when I closed my eyes for a sec I could barely open them again. I was like "Wth I'm dreaming now!". But since I couldn't see anything, I couldn't do anything special. So I let myself fall so I could wake up in real life.

Do you understand my problem? Is there anything I can do? Sucky dreamsigns..

What I would do is keep running when you realize and then jump into the air to begin flying. Then you can fly away from whats chasing you, land and then focus on powers. Or just turn around and houduken the shit out of whats behind you.

Maybe make a wall to stop the chaser, than try to get rid of him/her/monster?...

I'd try doing one of the scene changing methods. Ex: spinning, falling backwards, etc...

By the way, the title of this thread sounds like a potential great joke rap song.

do other reality checks like holding your nose closed and breathing through it, or rub your hands together hard and see what it feels like.
