      Dream recall

I've always been able to remember my dreams fairly well after waking up, even before I started keeping a dream journal. I would always be telling people, "I had the weirdest dream last night..." and then tell it in detail.
But lately, my dream recall seems to have almost disappeared. After waking, if I remember anything at all, it's just vague fragments. it's kind of scary, because I've never had this happen before. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

      Hi there my friend,

It's actually natural for a person to have a decline in their dream recall. My dream recall have declined recently, but luckily, my dream recall is starting to return like it used to be. Anyways, there might be real-life elements that are degrading your dream recall like stress in school or work. If there are elements that are affecting you recently, I'm sure your recall will be able to return once those real life elements disappear. Why don't you get a refresher by reading the official Dream Recall Tutorial. Don't get turned off, I bet it'll return soon. Hope this helps

Normally, the biggest threat to recall is stress. Have you had any big life changes or big stresses lately?

I thought that all was easy to me - dream recall and everything
But one day I too started to forget my dreams too

Sometimes our memories fall short when normal sleep patterns, or our life focus thoughts change.
To recapture those memories when you first awake, try to remember even a fragment of the dream with your eyes still closed before getting up.
      Then write it down.

Hope you'll get it back soon

Thanks for the replies. It's good to know that it's happened to other people and even to be expected. I had heard that stress can be a factor in not being able to remember dreams. And I do have a rebellious teenager and a dog who isn't quite potty trained living with me. But they've been here for years and the problem only started about a week ago.

But the good news is, it may be starting to come back. Last night I remembered fragments of five different dreams. (At least I think they were different.) I woke during the night, recalled two dreams, wrote down some notes on them then went back to sleep. When I woke this morning, I remembered two more and as I was writing about them, I remembered one more. It's going to take me a while to type it all up in my dream journal.

The bad news....none of the dreams were lucid, although one of them should have been because the same thing happened about three times.

Sorry about posting in the wrong spot. Before I posted, I looked for a similar topic but didn't see one and now I see why - it was buried in the sub-menu of "Attaining Lucidity" (which is a completely different topic but whatever) and buried so well that even the website's automatic "similar topic locater" didn't find it. So since it was a newbie question, I posted it there.

Thanks, Weakamon. I read over the Dream Recall Tutorial. (I wouldn't really call it a refresher since I had never read it before...lol.) Everything I know about dream recall, I'd read in Robert Waggoner's and Stephen LaBerge's books. But the tutorial had a few items in there that I don't recall the books mentioning so it was very helpful!
