      Lost Progress

The last week I have been keeping a dream journal and slowly I have been remembering more dreams with more detail, however last night I barely remember even having dreams (I can only remember one feature from a dream...dew on the grass).

The only reason I can think of this happening is because I didn't set an alarm to wake me up after 4.5 hours after going to bed, and alarms about every 1.5 hours afterwards. Would this omission make such a large difference? Or should I try and remember dreams naturally on my own without waking up because of an alarm?

Any and all advice is welcome, thanks in advance to any who read and respond to this.

First of all, quality of sleep is important for DILDs, which I assume the is what you want. I think if you can wake up naturally, you will remember two or three which is good enough for a DJ. So if you can, just write them all diwali in the morning. And if you wake up in the night, try a DEILD.

So many things can affect recall. I have pretty good recall but every so often I will wake at a weird time and forget all my dreams. It happens, but isn't necessarily the sign of doom.

A regular sleep schedule can make a real difference. A schedule allows the body to wake naturally and seems to aid recall. Lying in bed for a few minutes upon waking and allowing the memories to return can also help.

If you feel the alarm helps by all means use it. If you can get by without it take some time upon waking to try and remember your dreams.

**The first thing I do when I wake is go to the bathroom. I typically will close my eyes and allow the dream memories to return while I sit. It's a quiet place to contemplate my dreams and seems to aid in recall.**
