      Struggling With My Dream Signs

Hey people, I have a few question I need to be clarified, Okay.

      1) I think I have found a couple of significant dream signs but I'm not to sure on them. The fist one is a local park that a lot of my dreams are located - here unusual things happen, where the details seem to change like size and colors of swing sets and slides. Another is Running. From my knowledge most of the dreams, where I am running - I can't run properly. I always seem to be in slow motion, but everything around me is normal speed. However in previous dreams I ran extremely fast. Anyway are these dream signs ?

      2) Secondly I cant seem to find anything on what to do once I have identified my dream signs, because in my last dream these two aspects were involved but I didn't realize I was dreaming. What do I do from here?

3)Long story short, I have a very sophisticated alarm that gives me sleep analysis, and I may be able to find when I wake up before the REM stage - Is this a good thing or doesn't it matter?

      Thanks

Hi, LucidMaximus! It's good that you're identifying dream signs! That's definitely a good start. I guess now, you just have to train yourself to question whether or not you are awake or dreaming. Do you visit this park often in real life? It might help to go there a lot (when you're awake I mean) and while you're there, ask yourself "Am I dreaming?" Then there are a lot of reality checks you can do––like looking at your hands to see if they look normal, or trying to float up off the ground, etc. (And you should do these even if you're not at the park, but I imagine being there might help you even more.) If you try these things when you're awake, then after a while you'll hopefully start trying them in your dreams. For example, you might see the park in your dream and think to yourself "Am I dreaming?", do a reality check, and realize you are dreaming. And that's a step towards reaching lucidity. Hopefully that helps a little?

      1) They certainly sound like dream signs, but only you can really know what your dream signs are. Also, over time your dream signs will change, so you can expect variation in them.

      2) The idea of dream signs is that if you see them in real life you're meant to do a reality check. This gets you into the habit of RCing when you see these things so that when you see them in a dream you do a RC and that should get you lucid.

      3) Knowing your REM stages is very helpful, I wouldn't recommend waking up before it starts but maybe about 5-10 minutes after so that you're not waiting for a dream scene to appear

      Welcome to the forum!

Both of the replies above are very helpful. They cover most of what I would tell you.

      1. Those sound like prominent dream signs. I get them too and have been making a list of them. The more you recognize these signs the greater chance you have for lucidity. Running slow like you described recently caused me to achieve lucidity; I knew it was wrong to run like that.

      2. We have a Reality Check Tutorial in our WIKI. It can help you figure out what to do when you see something abnormal or not correct. We also have a whole section of the forum called Attaining Lucidity that is filled with people's advice and guides written by members on how to go from seeing something weird to being fully lucid.

      3. That alarm sounds like a great aid. No devices are necessary for lucid dreaming but if you find them helpful by all means use them. A subsection of Attaining Lucidity is called Lucid Aids and is a section of the forum dedicated to the helpful tools some people use to achieve lucidity. Check it out.

If you have any questions please feel free to post them on the forum or you can send a private message to any staff member (like me) by clicking on our profile name.

      Pleasant dreams!
