      Problems Analyzing Dream Signs

My dreams are normally over-the edge stupid when it comes to their plot (see my Dream Journal), and I can rarely realise that it is in fact a dream. How did you all 'learn' to realise that you were dreaming? I haven't focused much on dreamsigns, does anyone have a method?

I'm still a massive newbie at all this, but when I have become lucid it's because I've recognised things that remind me of real life with a really odd difference, like someone who hates me being very nice.

Sometimes it's hardest to recognise the most obvious signs, because our mind tries to hard to cover them up. If you can't see obvious things, try to concentrate on the little things. Questioning yourself constantly during the day helps, too.

I have major issues recognising major signs because my dreams are insanely realistic, so major signs like the spanish inquisition popping up really should alert me, but for some reason they never do....

      Yeah

Since I was little I've had dreams with the same dream signs I've just realized since I started attaining lucidicy. My 2 obvious dream signs: The roads ice over, or someone who I wish I were friends with but never were friends with are now my friends.

Yeah, just check throughout the day. Once you learn your dream signs, look for them during the day. It helps a lot. I do it subconciously now.

the only thing i can think of is to lie down and mentally convince myself that i will notice my dream signs and that they will make me lucid. then i go down the list and tell myself each sign will get me lucid and that i will remember i am dreaming when i see it.

so far its been a mixed bag. but i hope it will help the more that i do it daily.

I think i know what my dream sign is now, but still when I see it i dont recognize it at first. I think my dream sign is me or my friends do something bad, but we dont get punished or nobody cares, like just last night Me and my friends broke a window with a disani water bottle and some guy saw us in a car but he started laughing and drove off.

It is hard for me to discover my dreamsign since my dreams are always different (so it seems) and I don't see any one pattern that I can lock onto and use except for the presence of myself in the dream.

I am now trying to compare myself in reality versus dream such as how perceptive I am in real life, vision is clearer, senses are more tuned, and thinking ability is more there like being critical and questioning. In a dream, one is never questioning what is taking place. That is why we accept the purple cat dancing across water I am trying to train myself to realize the 'dream world' feeling that gives away immediately that you are dreaming by using myself since I am always present in the dream.

like my lucid i had this morning, after i had my short WILD lucid, i woke up and fell back asleep. i suddonly found myself at my desk and my computers volume knob light wasnt on. ok dont ask me how THAT got me lucid but it did.

so it must have something to do with that analytical state of the brain being turned on that did it for me. so being in a deep sleep naturally turns that off. so yeah that cat wont normally spark lucidity. but if you saw it suddonly as you entered a wild you would probably notice it. weird huh

That is exactly what I am talking about. jay dawg, you had that 'dream feeling'
And yes! I agree about the deeper sleep. It must have something to do with being a little bit more on the conscious side when you try to enter dream world through WILD hence having your thinking ability about you.

I should have mentioned earlier, that my dreams don't exhibit any sort of pattern. I don't have any one thing that is a reccuring object of situation (aside from Paintball), but paintballing is something I do on a regular basis anyways, so it's not out of the ordinary.

I haven't had a lucid dream since I started keeping a journal (one week). That being said, when I realize I'm dreaming it's because of a dreamsign. Sometimes I will say "Hey that looks different" and other times I will say "No that's not right". As you may guess, when something's different I continue dreaming, but when something is definately wrong I become lucid. If you can program yourself to tell you that something is wrong rather than different, that is a start.

Also, I have become lucid several times by remembering quite a few dreams and noticing patterns, but that doesn't seem like it helps you. I tend to do my lucid dreaming when it's colder (fall and winter).

I've read your journal, and you seem to summarize your dreams. In my journal, I've noticed the two biggest repeating dreamsigns are a color, blue, and things occuring in groups of three or four. I believe once you describe something as grey in your journal, but you do not ever mention two or three or four of anything. Both of these are quite subtle though, and are tough to detect until after the dream (they don't help much).

I'm not sure how good your recall is, since you tend to summarize dreams, but try to put emphasis on things in the dream which make you feel they are important. Pay attention to colors and numbers.

A really weird thing happened when I went swimming (in reality), I closed my eyes and saw this structure that was light blue and had three columns (also four sides). Next time I have a lucid dream I'm going to look for this structure since the hints keep manifesting my dreams.
