      Flying and Breathing Underwater

Hey there. I've had a dozen or so lucid dreams so far, and about half or more have been because of realizing I was flying or breathing while underwater.

Also most of them have come from going to bed expecting to wake up in the dream. At least, that's what my dream journal prompts me to believe.

I was wondering if this was common for you as well. Do you often realize you're dreaming because of flying or breathing underwater? When you go to bed expecting to become lucid, does it seem to help?

About the last question, yes, it does help as it puts you in a state of mind that's going to be more aware to identify any signs in your dream.

About flying or breathing underwater, those are usually not my dream signs as I don't happen to even do those in dreams regularly.

I agree with the previous poster. Thinking positively and getting in the right mindset certainly helps you out.

And yes, I get some dreams where I get lucid because I could breathe underwater. It usually happens when I fall off a high structure like a cliff, and into the ocean, then as I'm struggling i realize i can breathe and it's a dream. :3

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Thats pretty rare. For others it wakes you up because, well, its a very exciting thing to do and it gets hard to control yourself even when you're just standing and realize it.
