There are many reasons to why you can't remember your dreams. One simple reason that people tend to overlook is snoozing.
I had some member ask me the same question you are asking now and well I will tell you the same thing I told him:
Think back... What did you do when you remember your dreams and what have you changed now?
When I asked him this he said that he had changed his alarm in the morning to snooze so when he woke up from his good night sleep an alarm woke him up and by then he remembered his dreams, but then he fell back to sleep and when he woke up he had forgot them. So he just changed that and stopped snoozing and by then he remember his dreams!
But there are other reasons, late bedtime? If it's late you will sleep less than usual and well the time in REM will be shortened so there is not as much to remember...
Unless you can remember your first and seocond REM period of dreams, but since you are new it might not be the case. Don't worry it is easily learned.
One tip I can give you is this link (it have helped some people.

It's not a guaranteed way to remember your dreams, but I can guarantee you that it is a good pracctise to remember your dreams
Because by doing this you practise your short-term memory and that will help you remember your dreams, because the lack of short-term memory is the reason to why we forget our dreams in the first place.
But think think think. What did you change? If you can't come up with anything, don't worry.. ^-^ There are still things that you CAN change to see if you notice any difference.
Like go to bed earlier, my ideal time is 22:00 but that might not be the case for you, also fall asleep peacefully, meditate yourself to sleep, take deep breaths and focus on it until you fall asleep.
There are many ways but one thing is clear, if your not happy with something in your life, change something!
It's a really good advice people tend to forget.
Oh and for your question if WILD can affect recall, well I can't answer and give your truth, only you can! So try it take a night without a WILD attempts and see if it affects the recall, although in my opinion I don't see why WILDing itself would affect it, it's probably something else.
I wish you sweet (remembered) dreams, but if you need any more help just ask again. Nightie
