Is this a normal/valid way of remembering dreams?

So... The way I've been remembering my dreams is kinda like... First, I wake up, lie there for a moment and remember my dream(s), and then as soon as I open my eyes and/or realize I'm awake, I suddenly lose all memories of dreaming, but I briefly (for maybe 2 or 3 minutes) remember that I remembered them a little while ago. Then, sometime later in the day, usually 2-4 hours after waking up, I see something vaguely related to my dream, and suddenly regain the memory of the dream.
I'm not sure if this is even the slightest bit productive in terms of practicing dream recall, or if the memories from these are even valid/real, so who better to check with than an entire community of people who know this kind of stuff... Right?

It is one of the normal ways of remembering dreams, yes. There are other valid ways too, of course. But this one definitely does happen, and yes it is normal. As to whether the dreams thus remembered are valid? I think so. However, it is possible of course that they are a fabrication of your subconscious mind that happened after you woke up. There is no way to really verify this I think. However, I suspect that most likely these are real memories from the dream while you were asleep.
You may say I'm a dreamer.
