      Scary dream signs...

      Hi this is a repost from a while back, I think this may be a more appropriate sub-forum than the one I originally posted in (didn't get much of a response), maybe it will ring a bell with a person or two in this one.
      ====================
      Hopefully this isn't a redundant topic here. I decided a couple days ago to renew my quest to get better at having lucid dreams, I have them on and off but it's pretty random so far. I haven't focused on it since a few years back, just been sort of let things happen when they happen. Getting back in touch with my dreams lately I've become aware that one of my most common reoccurring nightmares, that I tend to experience possibly every night even, could maybe be an opportunity to both become lucid and face a big fear at the same time.

      The dream is about being involved in a violent automobile or plane crash. I was in a relatively minor car crash a couple years ago and since then the dreams have probably doubled in frequency, making for some pretty unpleasant nightly moments. It's a little different every time but terrifying nonetheless.

      I've been reading about dreamsigns in LaBerge's book the last couple days and thinking about mine, and this is maybe the most obvious one, if that would count as a dreamsign(?). The problem is, it is something that I am absolutely terrified of in real life, and although I might not fly that often, I do drive a lot. Maybe you can deduce my question at this point but, would it be wise to focus on other less troubling dreamsigns as a beginner or is this as good as anything, being that it's one of the most persistent, and something I should figure out how to face, and if so, how? There's usually nothing particularly otherworldly about the situations, they are things that could plausibly happen, if I was extraordinarily unlucky, or simply not paying attention while driving in the wrong moment... any advice?

      Thanks!
      Adam

      Yo.
      Remember than nothing in dream can hurt your waking body so there's no reason to be afraid of dreams, and if you become lucid from one you can change scene to something more peaceful if you want. And you can use mantra for dream sign while falling asleep, like "If i see x i become aware of dreaming", or similar instead of RCing in car if that's what's problematic for you, though still remember to do reality checks from time to time overall and truly believe that you might be dreaming when doing them.

      Thanks for the message yeahI hear you. I think there's a couple things namely I wanted to figure out here: A. How to 'conquer' this dream/fear in a healthy way B. in the meantime as a bonus to use it to obtain lucidity and C. this is the trickiest but, say the dream is simply me driving and I stop paying attention for a second and look up as I'm rear ending a car, this scenario is what happened in real life, and also one of the most common versions of the nightmare. There is usually nothing remarkably "dream like" about this situation. I am driving, and I stop paying attention for a moment. That's it, and I'm driving often in real life, and I live in LA so traffic and accidents happen all the time out here. And obviously this is one of my big fears driving since it's how my last accident happened. So it's kind of a tricky thing, I don't know if you'd call it a dream sign, or reoccurring dream or nightmare or whatever but trying to figure out mainly how to move past it and if I can use it as a dream sign great if not, I just want to somehow get over that situation/fear. Any suggestions there would be most welcome, thanks!

      It's not needed that something must be remarkably 'dream-like' about situation, once you become more aware in dreams and set intention you can just become lucid spontaneously by 'feeling' that it's dream.
