Why my Dream Recall is weird, some days Remember completely nothing

I dont understand why sometimes i remember completely nothing even though wake up multiple times at night and
i know i had dreams that were even interesting. I just don't remember them at all.

I stay with closed eyes once i wake up, trying to remember and stay there and nothing nothing. I rmemeber nothing.
All i kind of know is that it was exciting dreams.

Like yesterday I felt that 3 times that i woke up. but i couldn't remember nothing.

But on the other had, some other nights i do remember my dreams well.

PS I'm a 3 week dreamer dream journaling.

Hey guys i have a small theory. Could it be i'm not remembering cause of the cold weather???

Cause when i get up the first things i feel is the cold weather on my neck and chest. so even if i had a dream that's not the priority.

Here in my city has been cold like 35 degrees. its hard . i'm from west coast usa

Dream recall is known to fluctuate, so just keep an optimistic attitude about your dreams and they should come back to you. Having a bad attitude about dreaming will most like decrease your recall. You could take some lucid aids to help with recall if you're having more trouble: Lucid Aids

Astral Mango. thanks about that. Oh i see. so dream recall fluctuates. Wish mine will be better.

I found this article in the web titled "New Clues To How We Remember Dreams "
It's here New Clues To How We Remember Dreams | Popular Science

Interesting. My parents never even practice dream recall or lucid dreaming and they always recall their dreams. well many times. And i even practice dream recall and lucid dreaming and i barely remember sometimetimes. I'm brain injury survivor and I go to some support group and there's people there who had strokes and stuff , they have a hard time remembering dreams. Many of those peers said they don't remember any dreams and haven't for years.

So although that article doesn't talk about brain damaged people. Maybe like the article says, some of us have different brain function due to injuries or something and so dreams are hard to remember.

Anyways, but i stil remember dreams sometimes so I will keep the hope.

i also found that, it was in another website of the same article i think

      Who remembers their dreams

A well-established theory suggests that a decrease in the alpha wave is a sign that brain regions are being inhibited from responding to outside stimuli. Studies show that when people hear a sudden sound or open their eyes, and more brain regions become active, the alpha wave is reduced.

In the study, as predicted, both groups showed a decrease in the alpha wave when they heard their names while awake. But high recallers showed a more prolonged decrease, which may be a sign their brains became more widely activated when they heard their names.

In other words, high recallers may engage more brain regions when processing sounds while awake, compared with low recallers, the researchers said.

While people are asleep, the alpha wave behaves in the opposite way —it increases when a sudden sound is heard. Scientists aren't certain why this happens, but one idea is that it protects the brain from being interrupted by sounds during sleep, Ruby said.

Indeed, the study participants showed an increase in the alpha wave in response to sounds during sleep, and there was no difference between the groups.

One possibility to explain the lack of difference, the researchers said, could be that perhaps high recallers had a larger increase in alpha waves, but it was so high that they woke up.
      Interesting.

Anyways guys that doesn't mean i'm giving up. I just kinda interested in knowing why my dream recall is not very great many of the days.
so it was interesting thing i found.

But today i had a great dream and i recaled it. Might as well tell it here

      1. I was in school and i was looking aroudn like in a park area. And i did awareness practice. which i'm actualy now doing everyday in real life.
For example questioning how things got where they are, and looking at things slowly and attentively in 3D. Well i did that in the dream. hehe.
Then i went up to some kids that were studying in some benches. and i checked out the writing to see if it was the writing of some person i knew. Anyways then i went to another area and a girl was coming up to me and I shaped her into what i wanted, make her more beautiful and stuff. Then came up to me and i grabbed her tight by the sides of the head and Deep kissed her hard. Then i decided to do it again caues it felt great. But the bad thing was I was starting to climax for Ejaculation.

ANd it was here that i realized "In my real life i dont want to wake up wet, so i better stop it" and i stopped kissing her and the dream ended.

Well it was a great dream. I also had another dream about cheerleaders .
And these dreams were the result of my mantras because i'm doing mantras
"i remember my dreams vividly" and "When i'm dreaming i meet Women/girls"

Wow finally worked. I mean i had dreams before in these 3 weeks but i just couldn't incubate them to dream of girls, but i guess practice makes perfect because i always say mantras during the day and when i'm about to sleep and finally they seem to be working.

Focus on your successes and keep remembering them and how happy those dreams make you.
Make sure to get enough sleep on a regular schedule do you're not so exhausted that you can't wake up enough in the middle of the night to recall dreams.

Than kyou. Yeah my sleep is good. Sometime ago ( and i wrote in forum) i couldn't go back to sleep once i woke up but now i can. so i get good sleep.

I had a nice dream recall today but not until my last waking time (5:50am) , i usually wake up about 3 times a night and sadly I didn't remember any of the other times. I just remembered a dream on the last waking time.

So far it's been about 4 days with no dream recall at all. but today at 5:50am i had a dream recall so i was happy

I don't like how they break people into two groups. I find I can recall my dreams if I care to. But if I don't make the effort I won't at all.

For instance, recently I started doing the out loud mantra of "I WILL REMEMBER MY DREAMS" and that did wonders.

And now that I look for dreams, I can recall them if I get a piece of a dream in the morning. It's like peeling an onion or pulling on a ball of thread. All my dreams are connected and I remember it all if I remember a piece.

Without any effort I would say I had no dreams. I could be classified as either types depending on the effort I make.

I think this is key. You have to be rested...to sleep, lol. Yeah, when I'm dead tired, I won't even try to remember.

About 1-2 weeks in to a very strict to-bed and out-of-bed regimen, I started having very long vivid dreams, and ended up having 7 LDs in 10 days, my best streak ever. It was combined with the motivation factor of an active DV LD competition. Both I think are important.
