      Trouble Recognizing Dream Memory

      Hello,

I have been doing dream recall techniques like that thread by MasterMind (the diary thing), and things like mantras and meditation, but I still have trouble recalling dreams.

I tried to find the reason, and I think it turns out that I cannot identify which is a dream memory and which is not (that's how bad my "recall" is). Sometimes I have thoughts going on my mind upon waking, but these thoughts are as vivid as thinking in waking life can be (nothing at all), and I know how a dream feels like since I've experienced them before (and I even became lucid 1 time!) so I always shrug them off as normal thoughts.

Now, I wonder if I should cling on to those thoughts and record them in my dream journal? I want to improve my dream recall, and I want to know if this is a good idea.

      Thanks!

      Alright, thanks!

Since I have nothing to latch on anyway, this might be the only thing I can hold on to. I'll go try this out for a week and see what happens.

      Thanks~

Sure, write down anything you can. Just the act of writing down all you remember sets an intention for yourself to remember dreams.

Also, try and read them back later in the day. Some times I have really life-like dreams. Though my memory fades over time. So once I've been up for a couple hours, it might be easier to tell what was a dream and what not. Some things will just seem vague or not make sense anymore.

      Good luck!

This seems to be a pretty good advice! I was browsing some sections here and found someone say that I should write anything, even "Nothing" if I can't really remember anything.

Aahhh, lucky you to have a life-like dream. In my case I don't experience (or would recall be the proper term?) them anymore. The thoughts I have upon waking feel like daydreaming thoughts, but whenever I take my mind off them for a second, I completely forget what it was about, which hinted me that it might be a dream going on.

I'll write down everything I can remember (or think of) after waking up. Hopefully this will lead me somewhere!

      Thanks again!
