Waking up after doing a reality check?

Hello, I have had a few times (3 or 5) where I preform a reality check and wake up before, at the thought of it or immediantly after I conduct it. Only once, in june, had I realized I was dreaming and didn't wake up. After that, the closest I have gotten was in 2 prelucid dreams.

Last night for example, I had just caught a bunny outside and I took it to my room to play with it and I see my bathroom door ajar. The day before, I had put a RC note on my mirror and TV. I think

"This is pretty strange. It's awfully hard to catch a rabbit; especially recapturing it 3 more times. Let's do a reality check." I walk into my bathroom, the rabbit kit now gone. The bottom of my mirror had the border of my TV and read "Panta sonic"

I am about to reread the brandname as I always do, but I wake up. I was also in the middle of REM, cause I recall 5 other dreams.


Another situation I had was in early REM. I was in a dark space area and looked at my hands to see extra long fingers. Bam, I am awake.

And the last one is of Sonic about to wash his hands. Tails says "You wash all 7 of your fingers?" Confused, he looks at his hands and I try to figure out how he has 7 fingers. Bam, in the next dream.


Sorry for the long post; I am new to the forums and that's the best I can discribe my problem. Any solutions?

Hmmm... were you relaxed when you realized it's just a dream? Maybe it's the sudden rush of excitement that causes you to wake up.

I don't think I feel excited, but usually I cannot finish my check. I always remind myself to stay calm, and when I do stay lucid, I am calm. Maybe it's just my REM cycle.
