Often times, such as this morning, I will wake up and remember having no dreams. Then, as the day goes on, about 30-120 minutes into the day, I will start to recall the dream that I had last night. Does this happen to anybody else? Sometimes I remember the dream last night because things in reality were in the dream. For instance, today I was watching King of Queens and then I recalled a dream that I had about the show.
Sometimes a related thought or event will trigger the memory. I took a nap this afternoon and because I was awoken by my silly daughter who was climbing all over me, I didn't have time to process the dream memories. After getting a moment to myself, I tried for about five minutes straight to remember the dream to no avail. About twenty minutes later I was talking with my wife and she mentioned her aunt. Suddenly the dream memories came pouring into my awareness! I had dreamed about a situation involving her aunt and the thought of her caused the memories to emerge from the recesses of my mind. I don't usually dream or think about my wife's aunt, so when I was scanning my mind earlier looking for a trigger to bring about the dream memories, the trigger that I needed didn't come to mind. Pretty neat how dream memories work.
