      A Pulblic Service Announcement

Alcohol and Marijuana combine to create a potent anti-dreaming drug. It took me 4-5 days to finally get my recall back...I've never missed dreaming so much. Plus, dreams can give much more meaning to one's life than inhibiting drugs will ever. They only make you look like a fool. So, just say no!

Ah, this should go into the philosophy forum...

Well, now I believe that drugs are good again. My and my friend were talking, and he convinced me (well, he's never done them, and we always convince eachother to do things that the other won't (i.e. my radical right-wing propaganda propels him further to the left), but you'll see how it works)...he convinced me to do them...

Friend: I hate my parent's expectations.
      Me: What do you mean?
Friend: They expect me to be PERFECT at everything...
Me: Like the 4.0, ACT, and everything?
      Friend: Yeah...
Me: That's why I engage in self-destructive behaviour, I like to be different.
Friend: Cool. (He's a sarcastice bastard)

So, hell, only touch them if you feel that you're being defined. You're dreams are you, not life.

I take it you are not very proficient with dreaming If you believe you wont dream after you drink or you simply go to bed to pass out, you wont dream. It is all purely mental.
I can recall multiple dreams from nights when I was completely wasted... Usually such dreams are much longer and more interesting than the normal ones. Also, for the few days after the "event" my dreams are much more profound, spiritual and mysterious.... I'm lovin it !

this is true. I find that cannabis only interferes with my dreaming when it's a daily thing, and alcohol seems to have no effect at all.

Wow, it sounds like it might be different for everyone. I was remembering 2 dreams a night before, with only spotty misses...I think that it had to be that combination. Although, maybe the sleep deprivation I went through added to the effect (I went from 2 days without sleep into the week)...Ugh.

Well, it's up to you: Good times or good dreams, unless it doesn't effect you, then....good times and good dreams!

It doesn't effect you? Wonderful. I'll kill you.

      Just kidding.

      Only not.

Same here. In fact, the very first entry in my online dream journal occured when I went to bed drunk and woke up hung over. It was long and vivid, and also quite violent!

Well, everyone has a slightly different body chemistry so people react differently and there is no way to know how you will react until you try it. Drugs are dangerous in the hands of irresponsible users who know nothing about the chemical they are ingesting. If the user decides to be responsible and respectful to his/her health then the danger remaining is from the possibility of getting caught by police and being put in jail, ruining the user's life forever. HOWEVER, don't take this to mean that drug use is 100% safe because it isn't. I'm just saying there are things people can do to reduce the chance of of adverse negative effects.

And I too can remember times when I remembered dreams after a night of drinking, so long as I didn't get so drunk that I passed out in some alley somewhere. But yea there are some drugs that will definitely reduce or eliminate recall ability like a lot of prescription sleep aides but as usual each individual's body chemistry is always a big factor.

All my experimentation with drugs and dreaming thus far seems to indicate that you need more sleep in order to have the same recall with drugs. Taking a 2-hour nap in the afternoon and then getting 8 hours at night allows me to recall the same with or without cannabis/alcohol, whereas with my old 6 hours/night sleep schedule I couldn't remember a single dream if I smoked.

Is there a song about me or did you just make that up?

I'm glad you found a method that worked for you! Not being able to recall is pretty miserable. My friend told me the other day that he hasn't dreamt in years. poor bastard! I think I'll slip him some b6 or something.

Well, there will be. I mean, with a beat like that?

Actually, it's from either Charlies Angels or the Matrix, butt I can't really remember which...the only lyric (I think) is "It's dangerous!" and who knows? It would be cool if someone could name that song...

I can only recall things during weekends because weekdays I wake up around 6:00 and don't have time to try and remember them. Plus, I sortof fade out of dreaming by letting myself put more thought into it, like, I should go there, or I should do this.

if you find that song, hook me up so I can put it on a tape and walk around town playing it on my boombox.

I certainly have more dreams on weekends, but my recall actually goes down because if something doesn't wake me up I wake up very gradually - I'll wake up, open my eyes, look around, and then suddenly be asleep again. It goes on like that for a few hours so by the time I get to my DJ I've forgotten the longer dreams that happened earlier on in the night.
