      my dream recall is .....

i have been trying to lucid dream for over 3 months now. i feel like i had a lucid dream by now but my recall is so poor i probably wouldn't remember it. my recall was never good even when i was very young and its just been gettting worse. i dont have a dream journal but i dont see how it would help if i never remember anything. i always wake up and there is nothing that comes to my mind, althouhg i never wake up in the night, i just find myself awake in the morning. any help for me?

A dream journal can help even if you don't remember anything usually, as the act of preparing the DJ, the expectation of having t write something down and the importance your brain will then give to remembering dreams will help boost your recall. When you wake up do you immediately move around or open your eyes? Doing that kills recall, you need to stay still and keep you eyes closed, that will help even semi-lost dreams float back to you. Lastly don't despair, as that will only make it worse, and I was in your shoes before I got into LDing, barely remembering any dreams, but it does get better.

Watch, listen to, or feel what you can for the entire night. Doing this will reduce thought and increase awareness which will make the dreams and awakenings stand out more.

Have a read through my dream recall tips.

Noticing multiple wakings during the night gives you multiple chances to recall dreams, at the time when dream memory is strongest (just after waking from the dream). If you make this goal important enough to you, you can start noticing these wakings.

If you look at the night-time behavior of the most frequent and experienced lucid dreamers on this site, you will see they *all* notice multiple wakings during the night. You don't have to stay awake for a long time, but your awareness needs to "come up for air" once in a while in order to bring more awareness into the dream state.

Wake up during the night. It it doesn't work, try changing the hour you wake up. You need to interrupt your REM state, because during REM state you dream. By waking up during REM you'll be able to recall dreams much better. And seriously, write a dream journal, though you don't think it's useful. It helps a lot, trust me.

My recall is horrible and I also suck at lucid dreaming (never had one)
But today, for example, I remember my last 3 dreams I had during the night. That's because I waked up 2 extra times, at 07:00 and 10:30 before going to sleep again until 13:45

alarms are detrimental to LDing, try to notice your brief awakenings throughout the night

Success! I remembered the end of the dream. It was a weird one
. No I am not gay but for some reason I was standing in a bath tub with another guy (we were not naked, atleast i dont think so).no water was there and nothing happened. He was a guy from rl but in my dream h had blue hair. I decided to show him some pink dye (which there is not in our house) and when I tried to let him see it he disappeared. It just clicked in my head I was dreaming and I was sure. So I did a rc but it didn't work for some reason I decided to close my eyes and i felt the transition. In one second I found myself back in my bed. Why did my rc not work? I was sure I was in a dream.
Edit: Now that I think about it I have a lot of these weird dreams (not gay stuff this was first time) that is always in the dark. I always thought they were real but something later
on in the day reminded me of it and I was like wow, it was a dream? Since it felt so real.
