Well I'm not going to count given as I have 620 DJ entries as of today. Though if you say that on average, one of my DJ entries contains 3 dreams. (Generally one or two full length dreams and one or two dream fragments. Some can have as many as 4 or 5 in one night and some are just side notes.) That means that the total is ballpark 1860 dreams. If you add in stuff I haven't written in my DJ. (Fragments too lame to even be worth explaining, awkward sex dreams, or days that I just wasn't motivated to DJ,) That probably brings the total closer to 2000 or beyond.
I have been on Dreamviews for 3 and 1/2 years give or take. Meaning a little more than a dream per day since I started.
Though this is all a very rough estimate. I never really thought of numbers as something terribly important when lucid dreaming. Partially because they can be so hard to assign to dreaming related things.
"Did I recall two short dreams last night or one long one, because I feel like they are parts of the same dream...?"
Well...I've gone through quite a few dream journals, and I average anywhere from 2-5/night (usually about 3-4 on a consistent basis). So based on that math, probably somewhere around 10,000+
In about 9 months of on and off dream journalling, I've accrued about 90 entries, since I average about 2 dreams per entry, that would mean I've recalled at least 180 dreams since I first started actively trying to lucid dream. Of course, I've missed many opportunities to make entries. So the actual number of recalled dreams is probably higher.
I undestand if you believe i make this up but when i was practicing dream journal i got from 10-18 dreams a night, of course some were very short, plus i started to wake up naturally every 1,5 h.
in about 3 years I think I have journalled about 1 thousand dreams in my personal journal and on the site (esp in competitions), I have had 1000 LDs, so probably somewhere near 5000 or more dreams. I have had more and less recall at times.
Hmmm when my recall is decent/when I am motivated for LDing I tend to remember 2-3 dreams a night with a few fragments, but one night I remembered 8. I would guess based on that over the two and a half years I have been on here I have had/remembered about 700-800 dreams, but could be a little less.
^^Sensei putting me to shame with 5x the dreams in roughly the same time period :).
Current count is 2819 dreams over the last ten years (plus a few from even earlier journals dating back to 1993, but these make up a negligible fraction). Dream recall has come and gone with interest; the last year or so I've been back in full swing and usually have from 6 to 10 entries per sleep session (record currently stands at 13, if I recall correctly).
My recall skyrockets when I keep notes throughout the night—this somehow programs me to wake up naturally after each REM cycle to do them, which is how I can end up with so many.
Don't be put to shame! be proud of what you have accomplished! If you are not, then change it. I have never found a limit to the amount of recall I can have, I just get what I put into it. I am actually spending this month mainly on recall and trying to get it back to a huge amount! I love recalling tons and tons of dreams, and I think that it is one of the highest priorities for LDers. :)
I am also somewhere in the thousands after a few years of about 3 per night, but ranging widely depending on my practice. It is quite staggering when I think about it. At three per day, I have had about as many dreams as I have had meals. Or about as often as I use the bathroom. Is there anything we do as frequently and as consistently? Anything more essential to daily human life? Well, I suppose blinking and breathing, but what makes dreams so special is how memorable they are individually. Just about every dream, just reading a few sentences from my journal and I am transported back their in my memory and imagination. So even as the count grows, they don't become routine. I've had a few memorable meals in that time, but not nearly as prominent in my memory.
my recall is extremely poor to having maybe a fragment every month. but i started dj and have been for 1 week now and already got 1 very long dream and 3 fragments O.o i was thinking a dj wouldnt help but somehow it helped massively.
Sensei I am not ashamed of my recall, rather I was just commenting on how your level is something to aim for :). I know that since I've begun my dreaming journey I have gone from barely recalling any dreams ever to having at least 1-2 almost every night, even if I'm not expressly practicing, which is great! Hopefully I can build up on that though as, like you said, there's no limits!
