      Recall not found during weekends.

So this past week i somehow managed to make my dream recall better.Usually i would remember 1 dream after waking up and thats all but this past week i was using mantras like ''i remember my dreams'' while falling asleep and with this method i managed to wake up during the night and write down a dream and then write another one upon waking up for the day.One day i had 2 dreams and 1 fragment from my nights sleep and 2 dreams during an evening nap 1 of them was at the begining of the nap and the other was after waking up from it.I mean i had 5 dreams recorded in my DJ in a day and i was feeling amazing. It was a breakthrough for me.But today its Saturday and i wake up with no dreams.I am pretty sure this is going to happen tommorow as well.It happens to me all the time though.Every weekend i cant remember my dreams and i dont even oversleep or sleep less.I sleep the same amount of time i sleep in my normal weekdays.Any ideas why this is happening?

You sleep the same amount of time? Is it the same hours, like 10 am to 6 am? Or is it just the same amount of time?

A lot of time noticing random patterns can accentuate them as well.

How many times do you wake during the night? Micro wbtbs and wbtbs are amazing, not just for recall, but for consistent recall.

I sleep the same amount of time 8 hours in total.I wake up 2-3 times during the night.I would consider this micro wbtb.I record any dreams i may have and then i go back to bed.

Is it the same waking and sleeping times though? Like 10-6, or does it change to something like midnight-8?

As I said before, it could be noticing a random pattern makes it happen because you think there is a reason.

Consistency is the key. In length of sleep, but also bed/waking time. Although sleeping longer is usually better.

Also, recall can flactuate even if we do things same way every day. Keep DJing, be thankful for your dreams and tell you subC : D

As i fall asleep i keep repeating that i will remember my dreams and it works.Do you think that if i change my mantra to "I will have lucid dream tonight" or somethig similar i might mess my recall up?

Generally you want your mantra to be present, not future tense. There are lots that share this opinion, and I always find it to be better to stick with present.

there are two types of mantras, there is the "ohm" kind, or the kind that is your one mantra, the one thing that is repeated over and over as the background to your life, it is very personal and needs to be chosen carefully.

That being said, there is self affirmations, which is what most people think a mantra is. It is a phrase that you can have multiples of and change depending on neccesities.

Here's a crazy question, Tasinios: Does it really matter if you don't recall your dreams on the weekends?

Seriously. Yes, it's good to remember as many of your dreams as is comfortably possible, but there really is no need to remember all your dreams. Why not just let the weekend dreams go their way, and be happy that you remember as many as you do during the week? Note that I said "comfortably" possible; attempting to record all of your dreams might be asking a bit too much; remember and pay attention to what you can, but don't worry if you miss a few.

Developing your recall, in terms of LD'ing, is not about remembering all your dreams, but about giving your dreams presence and importance in waking-life -- and it sounds like you are already doing that. Don't fret if you forget some, on weekends or whenever, because it sounds like you're remembering quite a few anyway.

In short: Remember and record as many dreams as you comfortably can, but don't worry if you don't get them all.

Adding to what Sageous said, as long as you recall being conscious during the dream, not being able to recall it well won't affect your future lucid dreaming chances, as you had enough awareness during the dream to potentially become lucid.

On the other hand, If you don't recall being conscious during the dream, the problem isn't your recall, but your low in-dream awareness. This you should take care of immediately by paying more attention to what's happening while you're sleeping.

Sageous,I can agree with you.It is okay to let some them take their own way.The thing is that i have been struggling with verh incosistent recall since i first started practicing LD (about 2-3 months ago).I am getting better at recall now so maybe my excitement about the fact that my recall is getting better is making me want remember more.I will take your advice on that because i think i get stressed out whenever i cant remember one of them.If i get what dolphin said right, as long as i can remember what i did before on a non LD as the dream progresses i am good to go?I am having a really hard time going lucid though.I am missing really good chances. For example last night in a dream i was talking to a friend about not attaining my english lessons. The thing is that i haven't had any english lessons since my ECPE degree which was 5 years ago.It is like my brain perceives everything as normal and it is not proccessing it.After that i was riding dinosaurs.I mean am i not supposed to say that dinosaurs havent been on this planet for millions of years and become lucid?

I think he was speaking more about awareness and not remembering what you did, but I'll leave that to Dolphin, as I may have misunderstood as well.

Try not to let this bother you, because it does happen.

LaBerge often tells his students to "look for the odd" during the day, and then do a RC when an odd thing or moment is noticed; this in theory will prompt you to notice odd things during the dream and do a RC then as well, which should summon lucidity. However, I've found that, if you are not lucid at all during a dream, pretty much nothing is odd; the moon could land on your house with no damage, and if you are not lucid might just think that is perfectly normal.

Just as you must already have some self-awareness on-hand (aka, lucidity) for a RC to work, you also must already be at least a bit lucid in order to notice the odd. You can, however, try to set an intention as you go to sleep to look for the odd; if it works, the presence of the intention might spur a bit prospective memory into action and you might remember to look for the odd, and the process of this remembering will include the self-awareness you need to actually notice odd things and then become fully lucid.

As long as you are conscious during your non LDs, you're fine, as far as your in-dream awareness is concerned.

But, in order to become lucid, you also need an in-dream memory of dreaming. This is what turns a non-lucid dream into a lucid one.

In order to have an in-dream memory of dreaming, the concept of dreaming has to be more important to you than whatever you're dreaming of. If at the moment riding a dinosaur is more important to you than dreaming itself, you're going to focus on riding the dinosaur rather than the fact you're dreaming.

Your intention is what makes dreaming important to you. You need to work on maintaining your intention to become lucid while you're sleeping. A mantra can help you do this. Try to repeat your mantra during every conscious moment you're sleeping while being sure that your mantra stays more important to you than anything you can dream of. Try to stay consistent in your mindset, otherwise you might have trouble falling asleep.

Be aware of any thoughts other than dreaming while you're sleeping. If you're thinking about something other than dreaming while falling asleep or dreaming, you might be losing your intention you need to lucid dream. Try to keep lucid dreaming a high priority while you're sleeping.
