Something to keep in mind is that LDing is a little like going to the gym. You can't expect to do your 1 rep max every single night. It's not going to happen. You also can't expect to always be in top form every single night. There are going to be single nights where nothing much happens. Don't worry about it.
What you can do is build better patterns of thinking, better patterns of acting in the world, and so forth. These patterns, even when your lucid dreaming is down, or your recall is down, are still in place. They are still working beneath the surface, so that even if you are in a dry spell, it will only be a matter of time before you break through again.
Rest is really important. If you have been pushing yourself a lot, then take a few days off. Relax, do some conscious breathing (just being aware that you are breathing, letting the breath relax you, and enjoy being relaxed) and don't worry too much about dreaming. Once you feel charged up (after a few days, or a week, or whatever) get back into the practice and work hard again.
We have to know when to work, and when to rest. Working around the clock not only kills the fun of dreaming, but it is also stupid. It is detrimental to dream practice in a lot of ways. Awareness works best when we are relaxed.
So don't worry about a single night being not so good. We have the rest of our lives to dream. May it be long.
