How to be "present" in dreams

What I'm trying to say is that, I recall my dreams but I don't seem to be "present" when the dream is actually happening, like living it, I only remember it, like something I did some time ago. I don't know if I've explained myself haha

It's probably mainly a matter of how well you recall the dreams. Dreams that are faint and fuzzy in memory have a tendency to feel distant and “indirect” like that. In this case, with time and practice your recall should improve to the point where you can start remembering actually being in dreams as they occurred.

I believe that in Heaven you can watch all of your dreams. So I stopped trying to record all the colorful details for a while and my lucid dreaming stopped. In Heaven now, I know someday I will watch my dreams, but for now I want to start writing my dreams down, starting slowly of course, so I can recognize dream signs and to make my dreams more vivid and memorable.

look at the palms of your hands to stabilize yourself. Look in a mirror (though that might change the dream). Feel your dream body. It's hard because the body is usually - not always - paralyzed during sleep. Less so in REM sleep (am I wrong?). Move around. Study what you see. If you do this while you are awake you might start doing it in your sleep. Practice expanding your awareness (listen to music during exercise and hearing all of the lyrics at the same time), stop to smell the roses, be that way in REM sleep.
