Think of it this way: your mind & subconscious has what is called a cognitive model of what you consider lucidity to be. Everything pertaining to lucid dreaming (how it works, memories of past dreams, dreamsigns, etc) is accessed in memory through that model. Access to a cognitive model works best when an idea is very precise and straightfoward.
So.......you want enough dreamsigns in memory so that your chances of recognizing one in dream is greater, but you don't want to dillute the strength of your cognitive model with anything and everything you might see in a dream. Choose a few dreamsigns you feel are strong and significant in some way.
Visualizing those few dreamsigns prior to sleep (especially WBTB) is a great idea
