Reality Check Ideas

If you prefer or enjoy the DILD technique, you may be finding it hard to think of reality checks. Sure. You can say, "Am I dreaming?" but some people may find this useless.

A few simple ways of checking reality are written below.

Remember: You must make a habit of reality checking when awake. When you get used to it, you will begin to do it in your sleep.
1. Hold your nose and try to breathe
2. Blink. Some people find this useful
3. If blinking doesn't work, try checking to see if you have been blinking. If you notice a lack of blinking, you are probably asleep.
4. Try and do something you can't.

E.g: If there is a foreign word you know but cannot say, try it. If you can say it, you are probably dreaming.
Or try jumping higher than you actually can. Chances are, if you can do it, you are either dreaming or on steroids without knowing.

I will update this list if I get negative comments. Please, feel free to critisize (although most complaints will probably be aboutr my typing!)

Keep dreaming

It's kind of weird with me; I try to do RC's a lot, some days I get lazy but I have some reminders and I try to do them regularly. But--I never do an RC during a dream, and I never need to. It always just comes to me as an instant awareness "I'm dreaming!" and then I am lucid and I know I am dreaming, without checking. Although if I do something dangerous like jumping off of something high I do hesitate for a second sometimes. Once my hands looked all mutated too, but I already knew I was dreaming.

If only that awareness would come more often!
