I have a couple questions, can a dreamsign be something really broad, like people? Or outside? Or color?

And another question; I have had a particular place appear in my dreams a few times, but it isn't real, or at least I've never seen it in real life. I can't do RC's in waking life because it isn't real, do I train myself to do one in dream life?

I do or did have some rather broad dreamsigns like guns, subway stations, trains, and some more, I cant recall them all without my dream journal.

But they never got me lucid cause they are so broad and dont appear often enough.

I had a great deal of succes with a place dreamsign - I've trained myself to recognize a couple classrooms I see in my dreams as dreamsigns and become lucid.

You are lucky because the place you see isnt real. So you can use logic and rational thinking to your advantage. Before going to sleep think of why seeing that place is irrational and not logical. Prove to yourself that seeing that place is indeed a dream. For example I see my old math class from a school I once attended. So before going to sleep I would say that when I see that math class I will realize that I'm dreaming because
      I'm not in school anymore
I'm not in that country anymore
      All my classmates have graduated
I dont have to take any more math classes for the rest of my life

After saying all these things to myself I once again say that seeing that math class is equal to being in a dream.

You should create a similar list of things and repeat it every time you go to bed. It only takes a minute or two, but you have to do it daily for a few weeks. Only work on one dreamsign at a time.

This method varies in effectiveness depending on how often you see the dreamsign. I've been using the classroom dreamsign for 2 years now...

After being so intimately familiar with that classroom in both RL and a dream I can induce a dream about that classroom at will.

You may want to stabilize that place you keep seeing and use it as both a dreamsign and a point of dream reentry.

I've been wondering if it would be plausable to have a dream sign dedicated to not being in one's home location (city, town, etc.)

For instance, checking "am I in London?" and what not, given that if one isn't, it's a dream. Though the curiosity on such a reality check is two-fold: one part being that it doesn't seem very reasonable for those that travel often or even semi-often and secondly the question of its effectiveness arises as well. Too broad? Or too weak?

Heh, I've been trying to do this for a long time, but had no success. There's always some kind of background story accompanying such kind of dreams like "Oh, I just came here for a vacation" "I'm only here for a short time" "I've been sent here for a few months", etc.

I guess this dreamsign MAY work out if you are willing to absolutely with no exceptions convince yourself that being in any other location outside your present home, room, etc is absolutely irrational and not logical. BUt I'm relucatant to give myself that suggestion particularly cause I'm afraid I'll be trippin some day and it might kick in getting me into trouble. There was a story early on these forums by Tim who took some shrooms, went outside with his friends and assumed he was dreaming... Punched an old lady, attempted carjacking and got arrested... Not fun

Makes for a good story though.
