Question

      Ok, so about a month ago i tried to get into lucid dreaming - everything went perfectly. In the week it lasted i didn't ever actually become lucid but i had great recall, waking up naturally at the end of atleast 3 or so dreams during the night to record them. Then school ditracted me, and i stopped recording my dreams.

      Now, nearly exactly a month later i've picked up my dreamjournal determined to try and get better dream recall again, so i can get back to where i left off. I've tried evey technique i can think of, relaxing before bed, telling myself i'm going to remember my dreams, reading over past journals before bed but when i wake up in the morning its completley blank. Occasionaly i have tiny fragments, like a person i was with or something but other than that i remember absolutley nothing at all. It seems kind of weird that it was so good before and now i can hardly remember a thing.

      So, any ideas of what might help? And also, does stress effect your ability to recall dreams?

      Thanks. =)

      You could be trying too hard. I hate that feeling, and I am pretty much going through it myself as well. Mine is definitely a combo of stress and wanting it too much.

      Stress is recalls worse nightmare. Try meditating or keep a laid back attitude.

      Are you still DJ-ing the fragments or flashes of dreams you do remember. Even jotting down those shards of dreams could help towards restoring your dream recall.

      Well alot of people go through a dry spell, that could be what you are going through. Also school can cause alot of stress which is most likely causing the lack of recall.

      Has your sleeping hours changed since returning to school?

      it could be stress or the lack of vitamins (if you are staying in college)

      Yes, i have been writing down most of the fragments. There haven't been many, however i have good news!

      Its only one, but tonight i took your advise, and tried to de-stress a bit before going to sleep. I listened to music, and used my faerie oracle cards for awhile (something i more do for fun and relaxation) then told myself i was going to remember my dreams before going to sleep. I woke up and was able to record some small fragments in the night. But in the morning i could record a whole dream, with diagrams and all. It wasn't very long, but i think you may be right and less stressing will help alot to getting back recall.

      I was actually quite surprised to note my first wakeup after a fragment was at 1am. Only 3 hours after i had fallen asleep and then i woke up periodically through the night. Is it normal to dream so quickly?

      Self belief is one of the best techniques.
