Hey, I have been experiencing lucid dreams for years, though I am new to controling and inducing them. Several times a month on average, I experience an extremely vivid and long LD in which I have a high degree of control, but most nights, its just EMPTY like I didnt dream at all . Im told that the mind always dreams but just cant remember. Ive tried the "I will remember all my dreams" internal monologue, thing to convince the subconscious to remember, but I havent had any luck with that so far. I just seems to be uncontrollable. Any good techniques for dream recall that I havent tried yet?!? help me out plz!

do u have a dream jornal? if not, get one!! write down everything u remember from your dreams that night. if u cant think of anything, write down how u felt. write down ANYTHING that u can remember. It might be awhile till u actully see any difference, but trust me, it works. Just 2 weeks ago i was remembering like 1 dream a week now since i started a dream jornal im remembering 1-2 a night!

A dream journal is a must! Also, durring the day, try to think of lucid dreaming constantly as it will lock into your subconsious.

Just to add to the point about dream journals.
You might also try waking yourself up gently in the middle of the night, and see if you remember anything. If you do, write it down.
My technique at the moment is getting up in the night to use the bathroom. (purely coincidental, but it works)
Basically, you are aiming to awaken in the middle of a REM cycle which is when you'll be dreaming. So you should wake up in the middle of a dream.
You might have to experiment with different lengths of time to find your REM cycle
When you go back to sleep, you should be pretty close to REM again, and have more dreams, which hopefully you will remember when you wake up.
      Hope this helps.
Feel free to Pm me if you have any more questions.

Thx for the Tip IrishCreme, but most nights, its Empty, like I have no perception of the passage of time between when I fall asleep and when I awaken, so I cant wake myself up, unless your talking about an alarm clock?!?

Whats wierd is that it alternates between nothing and the everything when I actually do LD.

      Hi, Dream_Within_A_Dream!

I think I can help you here, because I used to be EXACTLY like you. I was a very deep sleeper, and could never remember dreams in the morning. So, here's what I reccommend you do:

FIRSTLY, even if you aren';t remembering MANY dreams, still keep a DJ, and write down EVERYTHING about the dreams that you DO remember.

SECONDLY, before you go to bed each night, read and think about the last dream you DID have.

THIRDLY, before going to bed, drink a LOT of water. This way, you will wake up in the middle of the night, hopefully during a dream-cycle, and remember your dreams.

FOURTHLY, set your alarm clock for LATER in the night, LATER then you expect to wake up from the water. This will act as a kind of backstop, just in case the water doesn't wake you up. BUT remember: Alarm clocks DONT work as well as the water method, because they wake you up immediately, and "jolt" you out of your sleep. This CAN cause you to lose dreams. The water method works better because it makes you wake up "gradually". Usually, I drink about a liter of water before bed, and that wakes me up USUALLY about 4 hours later. I set the alarm for 5 hours or 5 and a half hours.

FIFTHLY, practice the normal dream recall techniques before bed. Tell yourself in your head "I WILL wake up after my dream and remember my dream", etc. Visualise yourself waking up, opening your eyes, and slowly reaching for your DJ.

SIXTHLY, when youi do wake up, lie still for a minute or two, don't move straight away. Moving can cause you to lose dreams. Also, don't turn the light on till you've waited a few minutes.

      Hope that helps...

This is a dream recall aid that I picked up from some herbalist along the way.

The herb mugwort is specific to enhancing dream control. To use it, just buy some at the herb store,
wrap it in a cloth with requests for dream remembrance, and put under your pillow at night.
