I have had great recall using autosuggestion. Sometimes though I simply cannot remember anything about what I've dreamed. What causes poor recall? Little sleep? Stress? It's odd. I had poor recall for 3 nights and then one night was lucid, the next night I recalled one long dream, then the next 2 nights after that nothing. I wonder what will happen tonight. Anyway what can hinder recall?

Sometimes sub-par recall can happen for seemingly no reason at all. Yes stress, wacky sleep patterns, drugs, and alcohol can negatively affect recall, but you'll find that even if you're doing everything right, you'll have some periods where you just don't remember a thing. This is normal - sometimes recall is really good, and sometimes it sucks.

Don't get overly excited about it, just know that you'll be back to recalling dreams soon enough.

My recall sucks at the moment as well. But, I'm sick and am under a lot of stress at the moment, so that explains it.

My recall is like money. It comes and goes all the time (mostly goes )
Nothing to worry 'bout I'd say, it's happening to me as well - during the summer I got used to wake up like real early and remembered something like 3-5 dreams. (it was kinda hot, so I couldn't get that much sleep anyway)
Now during what seems to be a totally early winter I usually just sleep in the whole morning mostly (you know, when the bed feels real warm and it takes an earthquake to get you out of bed even to go to the bathroom), which lowered my recall to 1-2 dreams a night, sometimes none. (I think that the reason, oh well.)

I seem to dream 90% in the morning, and so the only thing really that gives me good recall is if I can sleep late. I don't even need lots of sleep - just to be able to sleep in the morning.

Drinking also stops me recalling much usually, although I had a lot to drink last night and I dreamt LOADS last night, more than I've ever dreamt before - hours of it - so I don't know really.

I was just reading in here, and couldn't help but think how I have had bad recall this week myself. I'd been on a kick where I would remember one or two dreams each night, which is good for me, then nothing but vague memories. Like the other night was something about the name Lance, and there were lanes or something. All this week, my toddler has been waking me up in the middle of the night, and I've had a hard time getting enough sleep, much less dreaming.

I know that my recall will improve when Scotty will stop waking me up at night and I can sleep peacefully again.

[musing to self]Perhaps I'll sleep with an eye mask again. That seemed to help me relax, but the gel has been getting too cold. I'll have to find my other one and see if that will help.[/musing]

*that last part is just my mind wandering.

If You have bad recall, here is what i suggest to do:
      1.Sleep for 5-6 hours
2.Wake up by an alarm or whatever (just wake up)
3.Try to remember of any dreams in those 5-6 hours of sleep and write down some key words if you do remember
      4.Go Back To Sleep
Your mind activity is now higher (after you wake up)
5.When You wake up you should remember some dreams

I am using this method for a longer period of time and it has high chances of succes (at least works for me)
It is worth to give it a try plus,it can be combined with WBTB,WILD...
