I've read alot of posts on this forum about constant reality checks. Where you look at the watch, turn a light knob, read a piece of text etc. They are good indicators telling you if it is a dream or not, but doing them all the time during the day is a little exaggerated.

I have controlled my dreams since I was a little kid, but its not true that we never have ordinary dreams. I often tell them to drift away, to let my mind relax. However, the times I am unsure wether it is a dream or not I've used the reality checks 'in the dream' to confirm it. But only after I've sensed the feeling of unsettlement, something is not quite right.

This is the subtle feeling you need to hunt to be able to realise you are dreaming. During the day, just be aware, just look at things and try and get that feeling you have while dreaming. This will also improve your dreams, as they will become more natural when you look for that same feeling during the dream.

I hope this explanation can help some of you that put in too much effort into the preparation.
Trying too hard always leads to failure, just let it flow.

I know what you mean man. When I started at this, I did like 30 RCs a day. Now I only do 10. I am gonna do a bit improvement though. Most of the RCs are done during reading this site. I've got to be more aware of my surroundings, just as you said. Look for dream stuff, look for the feelings, that indicate dreams and such. It's pretty hard actually, but I've done it a few times.

I used to do 20+ RC's a day when I first found out about LD's. Now I only do them about 10x a day, but I actually will ponder a moment and think, "Am I really dreaming?" Studying your surroundings defenitely seems to help, like you said.

      Good advice, Shadowrunner.
Quality over quantity, and be more aware of your surroundings, and don't go on autopilot - though I have a hard time sometimes because I'm a major multi-tasker.

I know what you mean, Shadowrunner.

I've been thinking about that too. And some good thought's I've had for this would be to ask yourself: How did I get here? Why am I here? What happend before this?

Practise doing this at times in your life when you are in a very involving situation, such as a party, concert, argument or significant experience may help, you are never bored in dreams are you? Or, never in a 'regular rc' mood while you're dreaming.
