sup yall. like ive said in previous posts, my dream recall has went from 0% to remembering snippets of dreams everyday now since i joined this site (great site by the way). Most people on this forum mention how you should have your DJ next to your bed (i do) because the moment your most likely to rememer your dreams is right when you wake up. Thats not true with me, i usually remember them around lunch time at work. Does anyone know why i cant remember them in the morning? Also, if by chance i could remember them in the morning, would i remember more than just the lil snippets im remembering at noon time? Im picking up some b6 next time i go to the store, hopefully that will help.
      am i dreaming?

The best way to remember the most of your dreams is to get woken up from REM sleep.

Well I only remember them when I actually wake up during the dream. I think that's what most people mean when they remember them in the morning. They remember the dream they were having when they woke up. They don't wake up and recall dreams from earlier in the night. Well, maybe the experienced LDers can, but not beginners.

What I think is important is to repeat to yourself about 50x before you go to sleep..."I will remember my dreams." It will put the subconscious thought into your head. I find that helps me subconsciously realize that I'm dreaming and then wake up. It's kinda funny...I just started doing this again for the first time in 3 years and the other day I woke up remembering something and it took me a second and I was like "wait, that was a dream, wasn't it?" It's funny how you're so out of it in the morning. That's why you need to tell yourself to remember you dreams cause when you wake up you aren't functioning at a high level so it has to be AUTOMATIC.

      Just my 2 cents.

My cousin is the same way. Not the case for me though. I usually just wake up remembering it and then around lunch forget it.

My main thing is: the more intense/impressive the dream is, the more details I remember from it. If I have a dream that seems like a half an hour long, and I remember certain main concepts from it, I write those down as notes, even if they are only one or two words per concept. Having them there, I can usually remember enough to fill in the gaps between those main notes, and end up remembering most of the dream, by the time I'm done.

perhaps something in your surroundings is reminding you of

what happened in your dreams? triggering a memory?

I suppose if this were the case, it wouldn't happen consistently, but

      that might explain it partially?

sometimes something will trigger the memory of the dream, but usually it just comes to me out of the blue, and i get a crazy rush over my body like "daaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmn i cant believe i forgot about that dream!" or "daaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmnnnnnnn why didnt i recognize that was a dream i couldve became lucid if id known!"

im having fun just actually remembering snippets of my dreams and thinking about them during the day. Shit, if and when i start going lucid, i think i might become addicted to sleep!

      Hiya

I find that if I don't consciously tell myself to remember the dreams before I go to sleep, then I can't remember them in the morning, or I'm only able to recall feelings associated with the dream (and usually I'll have a word in my head, like Post Office).

Also I've found that I remember my later dreams better, like the 1st dream in a night I'll only partially remember, and then with each dream (or REM session) I'll remember more and more, provided I've told myself to remember it before I go to sleep.

      So ya!

Same thing happens to me. I will not remember in the morning, only slightly before I forget. Infact I can remember most of my dreams though out the night. but only tiny little feels and such. but the later dreams I DIFFENTLY remember. If I forget in the morning, i will remember it out of the blue later in the day. Sometimes in the afternoon I will remember. XD I rarely RARELY lucid. But I can remember with no problme now that I started my dream journels and all. I shall try that also. I'm getting slightly bettetr at my dream lucid skills...little by little though..

maybe in the morning you are rushed and have other more important things on your mind? i usually let got a lot of amazing dreams pass because simply I haven't the time to reflect on my nights sleep as soon as I wake up..
most of the time I am really rushed to get into university on time.
but when I have nothing to do in the day I'm able to just chill and try and piece my dreams together.

yo, i think your right, because usually in the morning i wake up, and jump right into my morning ritual and run off to work. maybe i should set the alarm a half hour earlier, so i can just lay in bed and think for a few minutes in the morning before i jump out of the bed.

thanx man i think you mightve hit the nail on the head

That’s good advice. I’ve found that auto-suggestion works really well for me, also.

Great idea. I’d actually set mine for about 45 mins before I even have to be up, that usually gives me more than enough time to write enough notes,(or whole dreams) down, to get the job done…or hit the snooze and pass out again, if I don’t remember anything.

thats another problem, i usually hit snooze like 2 times without even thinking about anything. i gotta just wake up when the alarm first goes off, but still lay in bed and just think about my dreams.

sometimes it will be something i see that triggers the memory of a dream, but usually it just comes from nowhere.

im not having good recall at all right now though, im only remembering maybe 2 short dream clips per week, and i havent been lucid in a while either, since before new years i believe.

ive been stressing out about things lately though, maybe that has something to do with it?

im going to try the auto suggestion technique tonight though

I had that problem last week, i couldnt remember ANYTHING! i woundnt even get "flashbacks" lol.Untill last night. What i did was: Breath in (say one to yourself) breath out. all the way to 100. By the time you get to 100
youll be tired and want to sleep.then just think about remembering your dreams and then go to sleep. try not to stess about anything. I did this and i remembered 4 dreams as soon as i woke up. this is a very simple idea and it worked with me great!!

      GOOD LUCK

Well right now I'm having recall problems too so I'll just try that too.
