Hey Alextreme, welcome to Dream Views.
First of all, if you haven't already, you should keep a dream journal. This will probably be one of the most important moves you make towards having a lucid dream. The purpose of this is because the memories you have of your dreams fade very quickly after waking, especially if you wake multiple times per night, and you can look back and memories will be triggered, and after some time doing this, you'll find that you remember many dreams per night.
Second, it would be smart to pick out a reality check and make it become habit to check the reality of your surroundings while you wake. My favorite being the finger-through-palm test (just try to push your finger through the palm of the other hand). You can also plug your nose with your fingers and try to breath. If your in a dream, your finger will go through your hand and you will still be able to breath. With the exception of other advanced lucid dreaming techniques, this will be your key to having a lucid dream. Technically, it's called a DILD (Dream Induced Lucid Dream, because you are already in a dream when you become lucid).
I hope this helps, there are many tutorials that you can read and many very nice people here that you can ask if you have any questions :content:
well , i realli think having more sleep (especially after REM periods) would give you better Recall if your having the problems Im having, lately I've been having reall weak dream recalls, because Im not getting enough sleep :/ its realli realli getting me!
7 to 8 hours of sleep should be adequate, if that's really what he's getting. Also, maintain a pattern Alextreme. Go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time every night for a few nights should allow your cycle to actually form a pattern and your recall should come easier.
Another good idea that I've seen posted around before is, drink alot of water just before bed. I have an undiagnosed overactive bladder, I think, and I ususally wake up at LEAST twice to pee, each and every night. The trick is, the INSTANT you wake up, reach for that dream journal and write down whatever you can remember, but do it quickly, short phrases work best, just record the main things, then head to the toliet. For me, one of my main dreamsigns is, a toliet that's not working, plugged, occupied, ect. Every once in a while, I'll actually GO in the dream, but then I leave the area, and realize I still have to go. Of course, I almost always wake up, then, cause I have to pee... but I'm working on it.. LOL. Not surprisingly, I have AWESOME dream recall, I just don't bother trying to control my dreams most of the time.
*GASP!* Thank you camerine_tessa! I had never thought of that. I find when I get woken with my alarm, it shocks me and wakes me up quickly. I also have to reach over and switch it off, so I find that I forget my dreams after doing this. I'll try this tonight. :)

What I find works for me is to lay still and think of every detail I can about thte dream (stay in the dream reality) and let yourself go back to sleep. I usually have the same dream again, sometimes as much as four different times. This makes it really easy for me to remember most details, then I write it down.
Just a another approach I hope it helps.
When you wake up don't move at all until tou can remember even a snippet of a dream(s). Then go an write that snippet down, try to remember what happened before, emotions, feelings anything and work backwards or forwards from that point.
If you feel that you're missing something from last night when you wake up, don't worry! Nine times out of ten something will trigger your "lost dreams" during the day. For example, this morning I woke up and could only remember my last two dreams. Later on, when I was leaving the house, my dad locked the house with the key. This made the word "security" pop into my head and BAM! I remembered the dream last night that I had, and in that dream someone robbed me! Also, that dream led me to remember an even earlier one, even though they weren't linked.
So just be aware during the day of all things, and maybe something will trigger the lost dreams.
One thing I discovered today... if ever you find out that you were wrong about something, but have no reason to have thought that, it might have been a dream you had. Allow me to elaborate:
I awoke with a dream in my head, a really good one, an epic page or two for my very empty dream journal. So I layed there, in the same position I had been in, trying to work my way backward through the dream and I fell asleep. I woke up somewhat angry, but I couldn't remember why... I really wasn't that upset about the dream that got away. Then, half way through my day I remembered being upset because someone (on this very forum) told me that the music I was using to wake up to is the "wrong artist." I was all fired up and ready to defend my music choice, and the relative nature of music preference in general, when I realised that nobody had ever told me that. It must've been a dream! and when I realised that, the rest of the dream came to me.
