      HELP recalling dreams...

Hi. I experienced my first lucid dream several nights ago. I did not wake up immediately after, and somehow I remembered it through the night. I typically remember a dream about once every month, aweful.. I know. I've tried lots of the suggestions, including the drinking lots of water before bed thing.. That simply resulted in my waking up to my alarm clock with an extreme urge to eh.. use the bathroom.

Any tips on how to wake up after dreams?? I am 14 years old, so I really dont have access to melatonin. Should I try setting my alarm clock for approx 210 minutes after I go to sleep (two 100 minute cycles + alloting 10 min for me to fall asleep)? I'm really having trouble, I would like to make a dream journal or somehting, but I cant recall even 1 dream a month. Thanks for any help.

Dream recall comes in time the best thing you can do is just relax and let it flow. Trying to hard can hinder your recall. And as for the alarm, alarms can be artificial and can also mess up your recall. I think that there are some tutorials on this site and if not you can do a google search on improving dream recall. Hope that helped

Before I came apon this site a few days ago I had absolutely no dream recall for several years. Then the 2nd night after trying I remember a dream vaguely. And this morning I remembered another dream (But barely any of it). The Technique I use is before I go to sleep I think to myself "I will wake up and remember my dream." repeatidly. It seems to work.

I am yet to have a lucid dream (still working on the recall), and I did pretty much what you did. The first night I tried, I had a really interesting dream... it ended with me realizing I was dreaming... no lucidity, I immediately woke up opened my eyes, did an RC to check if it was still a dream... no luck... but telling myself that really seemed to work with recall

Another thing I tried, is recording a message on a tape recorder, and set my stereo to go off about 4 and a half hours after I fall asleep, so immediately when it wakes me up, I hear myself reminding me to remember my dream... that worked twice so far (and I've only tried it twice, heh heh) so I think I'm gonna keep trying that one...

Oh, and what does melatonin do?
