      Question on Dream Recalls

Ok, I finally get the basic idea of dream recalls. What I did for the past 3 days, on the first day I did all,"Am I dreaming". Then I checked the time and I also looked at text blinked for 3 seconds and made sure it was same text.

Well Yesturday I started where I say,"Am I dreaming?" Then I plugged my nose and tried to breathe.

Ok, am I doing it right? For some reason I don't think its going to kick in dreams and work... Cause i'm not that aware in dreams but, whatever.

Any suggestions, and am I missing anything?

      Thanks

Acually you're thinking about reality checks. Dream recall is your ability to recall dreams after you wake up. But, keep trying what you're doing, and remember to be patient. If you do find that the reality checks you choose to do don't show up in dreams, find others. Work with what works for you, just remember to not just make it a required daily task or else you'll get typical results in dreams making you mad at yourself for missing an opportunity.
      reality check. etc...

The whole point of doing "reality checks," or RCs, is to get your mind into a constant state of questioning your reality. It's not so much about doing the action as taking time to look around and see if what's going on really makes sense. If it doesn't, it's likely that you're dreaming and you can use an RC (such as the nose-plug or reading text) to be certain whether or not you are.

So, when you doing a reality check, don't just perform the check, but rather take the time to really examine what's going on. You can also ask yourself questions such as, "How did I get here?" or "Why am I here?" If you can't answer it or if the answer doesn't make sense, then it's likely that you're dreaming.

Anyway, that's an overview on the role of reality checks in lucid dreaming. [/thesis]
