      Was this me recognizing dream signs or just part of the dream?

      So I'm not as committed to LDing as I was in the past. I'm trying to get back into it and since I had a 1.5 year haitus, I'm starting from scratch pretty much.

      So it's been a week since I started again and I'm just starting with trying to get dream recall back. In the past when I got more sleep, I remembered on average 3-4 dreams a night. However, those are days when I was in high school and my sleep amount was constant throughout the week. College and vacations, my sleep time is never the same (although I do get enough of it still) and I'm remembering 1-2 a night.

      Anyway, so it's just been a week and I decided last night would be the night that I would start to tell myself before I go to bed to remember my dreams and to do reality checks.

      So in the dream, I was being driven back to college from Thanksgiving Break. It is a 5 hour drive and my dad always takes me but since this was a dream, it didn't happen like that. My mother who cannot take the 5 hour ride w/out like 5 stops along the way drove me. So we got there from our home in 1-2 hours and I identified this as odd in the dream saying it normally takes 5 hours. But then shrugged it off as nothing. Then she took a wrong turn and we had to find a way to turn around which we did. Going back the right direction we stopped at a friend's (I'll call him Matt b/c that is his name) house. He had a pull up bar attached to the sides of a wall which I again verbally acknowledged as odd b/c my other friend from back home (Justin) has this bar in his house and it shouldn't be here. But then again, seconds later I thought nothing less of it and moved on.

      So were those just random happenings in the dream or was I actually close there to achieving lucidity? Again, I don't expect to reach that point for a while but I was just curious about this.
      Wait!! .......Am I dreaming right now?

      dreamsigns may aswell be interchangable as 'unusual observations'.

      You observed things in your reality as unusual but the reason you weren't lucid was that YOU DIDN'T make the link to dreaming.

      Unusual --> Reality check --> continue.

      not!

      Unusual --> continue

      Therefore yes, you were close to achieving lucidity! Just keep reality checks happening throughout the day. TRY to actually find unusual things when you have time. You have to become more observant by changing your definition of "random happenings" Has something moved in your home? Is it the first rainy day for ages? Did something really funny happen?

      sounds like you are very close, you just have to almost "create" reason to check reality because it seems you are an already observant person.

      (however, maybe someone else can add something better!)
