My mind is a wreck

For some reason there is nothing I am really good at, not even dreaming. I just don't have clue how to begin LD'ing. I've heard about stuff like WILD, but it sounds like a waste of time to me. It works, like 1/1000 times; and is boring. (Lying still for hours..how exciting)
Usually in the morning I wake up with racing thoughts (about ANYthing) and I forget to remember dreams or keep my journal up to date. I feel REALLY desperate right now because dreaming was the only thing I thought I could be good at...

To get to the point, keeping a journal or doing reality checks doesn't help me at all. I had 2 LD's in the past (unintentional) but that was just pure luck.
I heard some of you say that you can remember up to 12 dreams per night...I could NEVER do that.

ehr...help?

Maybe try and stay still and try not to think of any thing. Relax and let the dreams come to YOU.

Hi, I think U should take a break from LDing...because from Ur expression Ur mind is already tired and desperate. Meanwhile calm Urself down and just because U can't LD does not mean Ur not good even in dreaming...it's not an easy task..in fact it's the most difficult task of all tasks....because don't forget Ur doing it when Ur unconcious...:P. Stop doing the checks like as if U never knew of LDing..clear Ur mind of it and anything LDing related for a week or 2, that's what U need right now.

I would say that my mind is quite the wreck at the moment also. LDs have proven much more exciting than the real life. My mind is constantly racing as my friends have me on some twisted guilt trip. Any who try Idoser. It will give you something to focus on. Don't focus on LDing at all this way... Im sure you can get the lucid dream sound from Idoser off limewire or something.

I've just done a little experiment, but I don't know whether it was succesful. I tried to communicate with a real person who is also dreaming, through my dream. Since there is a 9 hour time zone difference I had to go to sleep at about 10AM-1PM. I managed to have a dream during this period, and this person was in it. But I don't know whether she was a part of my own mind, or a real person.
I'm gonna give negativity a rest and try to get some more results :)

It was stupid, really. She went jogging together with her mother. I told her that I'd follow them on my bike, so they could start without me. But when I got my bike I noticed that I had a flat tire :-( and I couldn't find a pump. So I didn't really get the chance to talk to her.

Read first part of your post. You will soon find out, why you werent successfull. Could you please describe, whats your evening preparation for Lucid dreaming?

To tell you the truth - I don't have an evening preperation for LD'ing.
BUT: I'm into Dream Yoga - It's damn hard, but I have all the time in the world and I have ALWAYS questioned the "reality of reality".

Oh and in case you were referring to my negative attitude - I'm not always like that; and I REALLY believe that I will (ever) succeed. Why? Because I choose to.

Whats so bad about dream joga?

Let me ask you this; why do you want to lucid dream?

The answer to your problems may lay in this path of inquiry.

I want to lucid dream because:

1) I want to do something more with the time I usually spend asleep. (and live 30 years longer :D)
2) I want it because it is special - I am addicted to the extraordinary and the unknown.
3)I want to use my own worlds to practice certain skills.
4)I want to meet a certain person - not a DC representing her, but the actual person. (while we are both asleep) That's a bit too optimistic perhaps, and maybe even impossible, but trying never hurts.

Oh and about dream yoga - It's hard because you have to create a second you: The first you is the person you already are, a being that accepts it's enviroment as real, and acts accordingly.
The second is the person who questions EVERYTHING. "Is this even possible, is this real, etc..."
It's purpose is to do nonstop reality checks, and that's quite hard in the beginning.

Let me ask you this: Do you feel worthy or capable of talking to this person? Why do you want to meet them in dreams..?

I don't really try to have lucid dreams until my dream recall is good enough to where i can remember at least 4 or 5 vivid, long lucid dreams a night.

Dream recall has always been for me the number 1 factor in determining whether or not i succeed at becoming lucid.

I know you said keeping a dream journal doesn't help you at all, but how far have you gotten with keeping one? I am unsure whether or not it is possible to get very far concerning dream recall if you don't have some sort of journal. Keeping a journal and recording every blip of dream detail increases my recall greatly and very noticeably.

I want to meet this person in my dream because I can't talk to her in real life, I live on the other side of the globe... And she's "not exactly" an easy person to get close to. And about the "worthy" thing...I'm not so sure.

Oh and my dream log is always up to date.

No i've never met this person in real life and it's probably gonna stay that way. This person is in a much higher "social position" than me and I believe shes just much wiser than I am. But I've got this mental "condition" that makes me feel inferior to everybody...

Oh and it's not easy to explain why exactly I want to contact this person and not someone else...I've never experienced what I am experiencing right now so I'm a little confused myself :s

Do you mind me asking who this person is? It also helps with referencing to it and understanding what you are thinking.

You may have stumbled upon a reason why you are having trouble lucid dreaming.

Your original question is why are you not good at things, like lucid dreaming. Well, look at this now; you do not feel adequate and say that you feel you have an inferiority complex. You may be aware of this, but you are not sure how to get out of it.

So, I am curious to ask a few more questions. They may seem irrelevant, but they will help:
- How well do you and your mother get along?
- Do you sleep on your stomach?
- Who is this person you want to meet?

What you are going through may simply be a developmental stage where you are learning about yourself. You may eventually find that how you feel is really for no reason or that you are not giving yourself enough credit. However, it keeps perpetuating because you have sincere care for others.

My relationship with my mother is a bit strange. I love her because after all, she's my mom. But: If she'd been a random person then I wouldn't like her one bit because she is a hypocrite. She always tells everybody to be empathic and to have patience and stuff like that but when no one can see it she acts agressive and intolerant. I dispise that kind of behavior. Still, I like her more than my dad, who is a short-sighted heavy metal artist. His life is dedicated to "fitting in" and going with the flow. I HATE that. I want to be myself. I like to see myself as an open minded individual and my favorite slogan is "The only thing I know is that I know nothing" from Plato. My parent have no interest in philosophy and that's a shame because that means I can't really talk to them about the stuff I'm interested in. Actually, there is n one I know to whom I can relate. (I'm 18 BTW)

The person I would like to talk to is a rising star in Hollywood. So it is IMPOSSIBLE to meet her in real life and I know contacting her in a dream is pointless. I've felt physical attraction before, but this is NOT the same; it's so weird and can't discribe it. even if I don't get the chance to interact with her I just feel the urge to be nearby. weird, I now; but it's the truth.

Oh and that link in your sig is very interesting. My goal in life is to change the world, to change the way mankind thinks. I want to make a difference. The idea of living for +-80 years just like everybody else, doing nothing of any significance, suffocates me. I want to remain myself AND do something good for the world. I've been like this since I turned 11. That's not normal, is it?

I think it unforunate that you can not relate to anyone. If you could though, what would you want to discuss? What would you hope to find in someone (ie. good friend, girlfriend, etc.). Further, what is it about this person (whom I shall now call Y) that you like? Do you feel you can relate to Y? Why?

I am glad to see that you are reading up on philosophy. It is something that is eternally rewarding. You ought to know that what you quoted is the famous line from Socrates, as recorded by Plato. My primary question from this is that, if the only thing you know is that you know nothing, what is a good life? What does it mean to be good at something?

Often we desire to have the comfort of a certain sort of thing around us. In psychological experiments with monkeys, they often preferred simply the feel of their mother rather than being fed. The idea here is that what you are describing sounds like an attachment issue. When I say "issue" I mean, I am wondering why you want this comfort as you say it is not physical attraction, so I am naturally curious as to what else it is.

First, some people remain the same their whole lives. If you ask me, that is unfortunate, but normal. To see a real demonstration of this, Amish, Mennonites, Evangelists, etc. To as far as any person. I think what is really being concentrated on is the focus on a constant characteristic residing in the person over a period of time rather than ignoring all the other changes in that person. You have changed in some ways, that much is guaranteed. How much, though, can be compared, obviously.

Anyways, did you review the existances? For-itself, for-others, in-itself..? Do you relate to any of them?

I think "The meaning of life" is to try to understand the universe and to evolve...with that I mean technologically, but especially mentally. Our current way of thinking is wrong, in my opinion. Luckily I can feel this is going to change, real soon. And even though our understanding of the universe is extremely limited, and even though we might never fully understand it; it is critical that we try at least. Progress without harming the enviroment or other species, that's what it's all about.

What I like about Y is that unlike most other stars she cares about things other than "fame and fortune". Mostly animals. And I'm just intrigued and fascinated by her personality. And of course, I think she's great at her job. And her characters in movies fascinate me too. :?
I think this might just be an obsession that passes over time, but I don't know...It's unlike anything I've ever felt before.

What I need is someone who can make me laugh. I'm a serious person, and I usually open up when ppl can make me laugh. I also want to be able to talk to them about complicated philosophical stuff. A rare combination, I know.

I think I am more like a "for-yourself" person. I like the person I am (sometimes I don't, I admit it) but I care a lot about everybody else too.

ok Mr. Paradox, you are starting to bug me out here. You think WAAAAY too much like me. Same dream goal. Same outlook on a lot of things. One question...Do you find it hard to accomplish something that is an obligation and not your own choice, or is part of something you don't believe in? People think you are lazy, but you are just not concerned with what they may feel is more important?

A human has the ability to ask "why?" A human will look at the sky and think, "wtf is that all about?" It's almost like it is our role to figure it out.

off topic 4 a sec - everybody has the ability to see the past, because when you look up, you see the universe the way it was billions of years ago. That means that you can see yourself! (in the form of a collection of atoms)
