I remember about 100% of my dreams over the weekend when I have a long time to sleep, but I always have trouble recalling them on weekdays when I'm only getting about 5 or 6 hours of sleep. Anyone have any tips?

Yeah, it's pretty much unavoidable. If you only sleep 5-6 hours you will not have had enough REM sleep to have the chance to remember many dreams by morning. After a normal 8 hour sleep, you are usually waking up in the midst of your longest REM period, hence the dream recall.
