New here and I got Problems with recalling

Hi there, ifound this site yesterday and it really caught my interest. I read all Points on the Main Page and tried it out last night

To wake up during sleep I tried the "drink a lot of water"-method,... well gues I drank not enough. And I used autosuggestion ("I want to remember my dreams completly"). And as I woke up,...nothing I couldn't even remember that I even had a dream.

Most of you might think, okay happens from time to time, also I just started yesterday.
Your right for sure, but I have to add something: I'm able to recall,... I gues about 2 dreams a year. I wonder if one of you has or had a similar problem and how you worked on it, cause twice a year is nearly nothing.

      Some additional questions:
      - I said the autosuggestion about 50-70 times, I guess that would be enough, but is it necessary to say it loud oris it enough to whisper it?
After some time stopped repeating it and just thought it through a few times. I gues after that it took me about 5 mins till I fell asleep. Do I need to repeat the autosuggestion till I fall asleep?

It's not about how loud or clear you repeat it, it's about how much you believe in it. Everything that has to do with dreams is about belief in your abilities. Trying to dream more often, lucid dreaming, and controling your dreams is an incredibly enriching experience. You learn to have confidence.
Now I had luck it worked the very first night I tried, otherwise maybe I would have ignored it all a week after. But don't stop! Keep trying and eventually you will recall dreams every night!

      See you around

By now I have no intension to stop, except for trying to get an obe. I'm really into such stuff right now.
And I think nothing can stop me from trying everthing to get the "ability" to create my very own universe ...or at least fly around a little bit

      Two suggestions:

      1. Start a dream journal. Even if you have no dreams to remember, you can write down any lingering thoughts or feelings as you wake up, even if you don't remember any dream-like images related to those thoughts. Write down any dream you can remember, even if it is from weeks, months, or years ago! By writing down a few dream-like thoughts when you wake up, your mind will get the idea of what dream recall is.

      2. Get a consistent sleep schedule. Try going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time each night. This will help your mind stay most alert and focused during the day, and will eventually let you wake up right after your dreams.

Don't lose any hope after one night! It may take a week or two before this dream recall stuff really blossoms!

Dreams from long time ago? Hmm, I'll try if I can remember some. At least in the morning I could remember, that I remembered a small detail of a dream I had last night. I have no idea what detail it was, but at least I know that it starts to work.
ABout the dream journal: I already have something to write next to my bed, but first I need to remember a dream or details or anything... but thx anyways

Some people have the problem that if they hope for something too much, they'll be afraid that they'll be unsuccessful. This is exactly what makes them miss their goal. Pure belief is what brings you through it. Knowing that you will recall your dreams will make it happen. Confidence is the key. Looking at both outcomes (paths) will bring you down, but if you only see the path of success, that's the only place you know where to go. See what I'm saying? It's the same exact reason people have trouble controlling their dreams; they're afraid it won't work, instead of only looking towards success.

Also, eat some peanut butter before you go to bed. Has Niacin (Vitamin B3), which improves sleep and gives you more vivid dreams. Tried it last night, and like everyone else's outcome, it improved my recall. Remembered 5 dreams instead of 2-3.

Cause I have no idea where to get peanut butter in Austria I'll try it with just plain peanuts, and maybe mix them with regular butter (should be the same)

      Thanks for the tip

Those peanuts were working really good. I'm not quite sure if I remembered 1 or 3 dreams, they all started and ended as if it could all have been a really long one.

Thanks for the great idea CaLeB-

      Gonna eat some more tonight.

lol, welcome .trust me as soon as you remember even the tiniest bit of a dream write it down. dream journals help a lot! just expect to be lucid when you go to sleep ,but don't try too hard, and you should become lucid in a little while.i have heard bananas and chocolate increase vividness in dreams also so try those if you want too.

Last night I tried an autosuggestion to become lucid, well I guess I stay at the "remember my dreams"-point for now, cause I don't remember anything from last night ^^. Might have been the lot of waking up, I woke up about 8 times last night.

And about the dream journal, I already wrote down the dreams I had yesterday ^^

Well, the peanuts are working good enough without the butter, so I guess I'll leave it at this ^^

I'm now at a point where I can remember about 1 dream per night without eating peanuts before going to bed or autosuggestion (I've completely quited to autosuggest on recall and started to do it for lucidity). There's only one problem: I tend to forget anything that doesn't seem to be worth remembering. Therefor I often have to think hard in the morning and try to divide dream memory from reality memory (Well its just "Hmm, what were the last things I can remember of doing and which of them don't seem to fit in the whole picture")

As far as I remember my dreams I don't even seem in trying on a reality check or to take a closer look at suspicious things. I already started to look around in the real world and looking for anything suspicious to train myself for also doing it in my dreams and whenever I think of it I ask myself "Am I dreaming" while looking at my hands followed by a reality check. But unfortunately no DILDs by now.

I also tried to WILD, but something doesn't wnat to work. The farest point I've come to was were all my limbs felt strange, I've slightly lost myself in my thoughts and I didn't hear anything around me. As soon as I'm in this state I think of "I shouldn't lose myself in my thoughts, I have to concentrate" and the state is lost. (I tried BillyBob's WILD technique)
I think, when I lose myself, then I just start sleeping without WILD, but I'm not sure since I wasn't able to sleep while trying. After an hour or so I usually stop the whole thing.
