      cant remember dreams

Almost every morning when i wake up i cant remember my dreams at all, but after a minute or two of thinking about it (and not moving as much as i can) i usually remember just the tail end of my dreams and i cant go farther back into them no matter how hard i try.
Sometimes ill be trying to remember and i think ill be onto something when i completely forget what it was that i (partially) remembered.

Any tips on remembering dreams besides the basic...
      Try not to move
Try to remember your emotions in the dream

if you know how the dream made you feel then it may help u remeber what made you feel that way in a dream (i.e. pain...then u may remeber getting cut or w/e in ur dream)

if you journal (even the smallest stuff) your recall will increase

I heard that you can remember dreams easier when you wake up really early. For example: I went to sleep at 11:00 PM and then woke up 4:00 AM when I woke up from my dream. This is 1 way on how to remember your dreams.

if i have a prob. recalling dreams, i usually look for real-life clues subconciously and conciously and i would see an object like my pencil, and i wuld then remember that i had a dream about pencils or some sh*t like that

I like to wake up in the middle of the night to help remember more dreams. I also have to affirm to myself when I first go to bed, "I will wake after each dream, remember it, and write it down." It sounds silly to have to tell yourself something like this, but it really does help like magic.

Unfortunately, some will still always slip through the defences.

How long have you been practicing? It takes a while to get in the habit of remembering them. You may have to work really hard at first, but once you get a good rhythm, they should come much easier.

When I can't recall dreams but I know I had some, I try to think of any dream signs I have and sometimes that will spark a memory of what I just dreamt.

When you wake up, get into the habit of recalling your dreams. Stay in bed awake for about five minutes or so while trying to recall your dreams. Also, keep a dream journal and record as much about your dream as you can. You will see how much doing this actually helps over the days and weeks. Dream recalling is somewhat of a skill; some are naturally good at it, others become good at it after a lot of practice. Good dream recall also gives you a drastic advantage in LDing.

When laying in bed you should be concentrating on remembering your dreams. Let you mind wander that's where your dream will come from. You could also use autosuggestion.

I was reciently listening to a lecture by Robert Bruce, or another advanced teacher of lucid dreaming and he mentioned three important points regarding remembering dreams. Try laying in three positions for a few minutes after waking up in the morning.
      1. On your back
      2. On your right side
      3. On your left side
It seems that the energy runs through the body, and by turning to another position it gets unblocked somehow. Give it a shot!

I started a few months ago (anywhere from 2 to 5 months ago?). And your right, i do have a "rythm" when i wake up to not move and think and then instantly write down what i remember of my dreams.
I almost always remember 1 dream every night, sometimes 2 but sometimes only part of 1.

Is that a good amount of dreams for me since i started recently?

Hey minyman , I know what you mean I have what you have (had). Other people talking about their dreams lasting hours to them and i'm like what? You serious? My dreams , if I have one at all lasts for 10 to 60sec long and are jumpy from scene to scene and you are telling me you have hour long adventures in your dreams at a daily basis? I'm starting to think something is whrong with me

What did you do to increase your recall?

I think you are on the right track, looking to improve your recall. You are probably having those long, epic dreams. You just don't remember them that way. You only remember fragments jumping around.

Do you try to wake after every dream to remember it? Or just once, when you wake up in the morning?

Still having terrible trouble with recall. I despair at ever getting to lucid at this rate.

Here is a technique to try:
Before you go to bed write 5 sentences about what you want in your dreams. Don't do content statements like :I want to dream about Brittany's boobs". Rather use sentences like I want to pay attention to colors(or the color red) in my dreams tonight...Or I want to notice how I move my elbows in my dreams. Or i want to notice if people I know look the same in my dreams. Don't write the same 5 sentences each night. In the morning review the sentences and try to remember if you noticed anything like that.
Dreaming is about what you want on some level not what you think you want.

I bet you don't remember your waking life much better than your dreams. Try keeping a diary for awhile. Notice details that you wouldn't ordinarily care about. For example people who don't dream in color, don't pay any more attention to color in their waking state.
Reviewing your day each evening before sleep, will probably suppress dreaming because you will defuse some of the uncompleted business that fuels your dreams. When you take a break from recapitulating your day, you will find you dream more vividly.

I dont see any reason, why you should have trouble with recall. Actually why do you want to get lucid so fast? Is there some reason? I am just wondering, becouse if you keep connecting words like trouble, despair ... with connection to recall, you may get into trouble.

First thing you have to connect with recall is fun. .... What will be my next experience like? What powers will I have the next dream. Will I meet someone interesting in dream?...

Second thing I would like to ask is... How old are you? ... Actually the response doesnt matter that much. If your life is not at its end... Well you have plenty of time to develop your skills. Believe me. If you persist, you wont recognize yourself in two years.

      Well, I ain't giving up.

I've had some really cool dreams of late, I just wish it would be a bit more reliably regular. And that I could get to the lucid stage, cause there's a whole heap of fun I plan to be having when I do!
Been trying for a while, so it gets a little frustrating sometimes when I come on here to read all about the fun everyone else is having!
