how do I find my dreamsigns

Ok, so i've alwaysed ignored identifing dream signs beacause I really don't know how I would approch them, I have read LeBarges' book but the guide for identifing them in it I find lacking. It dosen't really give any clues to specific dream signs, only these kind of general signs.

could someone give me any tips on how to find those reacurring dream signs?

      thanks for the reply Eppy

I have had a DJ for a year and I have from time to time tried to analyze it, but what I find difficult is how to do it. What is it that I exactly have to do? Is there some method to apply to this?

      how do you do it?

I try to find reacurring people and places, but the people in my dreams is often the people I meet every day, other times when I meet imaginary DC's or DC's that I don't have any known relation to I never see them again. Its like completly random, same goes for location. The only thing I have managed to find is that locations (that is locations I see every day, my bathroom for ex.) tend to morph into more or less inaccurate copies of themselfes.

I appriciate every bit of input I can get

I'm new to this whole thing so bare with me here. I may be wrong.

From what I gathered, your dream sign is anything that alerts you/your conscious that you're dreaming. Like for me, a re-occurrence in my dreams is seeing my brothers truck (just figured it out).

I know I'm dreaming everytime I get in it and start to drive. and since I just figured it out I haven't really put it to the test. so the next time I see my brothers truck, I'm gonna do a reality check, and I'll either be asleep, or in real life.

So I guess you just have to look for anything in your dream that comes up often, so it can be anything really... hmm, and for that matter you can probably just pick anything. but you should probably pick something that has significant meaning to you; something sentimental.

      hmm, I hope I helped ;:/
I'm sort of figuring things out as I go.

and if you noticed my name, vici.somnus, I already know it's supposed to be somnem. lol, I noticed your tittle

good to here u were able to figure one out, have u gotten any lucids from it yet?

Thanks for the tips, it's just that I don't have so many re-occuring signs, I can find dream signs everytime I write down a dream but that sign never seems to be consistent, it never manifests itself in another dream.

How did you discover your sign? Did you just read your DJ and noticed the sign as an obvious occurence?

From what i've figured some people have more subtle signs, the sign itself is not the same but it bears the same reference. I guess these are harder to find and not everybody has these more subtle signs, but if I could find one I'd be soooo happy

      I think I understand "vici" - I conquered, correct? What's somnum?

Is your dream journal online? If it is, we can help you analyze it for DSes.

Dream signs should be those things where, as you're writing the dream down you go, "Damn, I dreamed about X again!" Whether it be a person, a place, a feeling or emotion, a certain hue (like the dream was all bluish), about teeth falling out, had a certain smell in it, etc.

Some of my dream signs have included friends from highschool who I never see, being in my backyard or back patio, my dead dog, having to shoot people, feeling embarrassed, or that everything looks blue. These aren't things that just pop out when you read a dream journal entry, but you start to notice over time. "Hey, that's the fourth time I had a dream where I felt embarrased in a few days. Hey, 4/5ths of my dreams for the past month have been about that. Oh, a dream sign." Just look for the subtle patterns.

unfourtunatly I dont have an online DJ, that would be writing too much english for me and would get me crazy (these posts take longer for me to type than you could imagine ) it would be conveinent though so maybe i'll take a shot at it.

I think I understand what a dream sign I just find it hard to notice them, guess i'll take a second look and if that fails i'll post my dreams online.

      thanks for the help

Ah sorry, if it's so hard for you I'm sure it does not help for me to just keep talking and talking
Even if you just translate the general theme of the dream and the major components, that should help. Just focusing that much on them alone should help you

I have trouble finding MY dreamsign also. If i have a DILD it's because I randomly know I'm dreaming, not because of the signs.

You talking is no problem at all, it's forming sentences that's the tricky bit. But the more active I am the easier it gets

I actualy just went through my DJ and noticed that a general theme for all my dreams this week has been help, as a concept that is. Either someone is helping me or I'm helping somebody or I witness someone helping or I'm supposed/expected to help. Aggression also seems to be frequent... what a paradox, help and aggresion. Now I just hope they are there next week too

I guess i've always been lazy when it comes to dream signs but lately i've been noticing their nessecity.

Same goes for me. Thats actualy why I posted this thread in the first place. I wanted to find some kind of method for the identifing of signs, I dont really know where to start. I guess i'm gonna have to try and fail a couple of times, and they have failed so maybe it's time to find a dreamsigns that works!

I've been keeping a DJ for a few weeks. I just started reading over them and noticing common settings and such. I made a list also and marked with * for every time it occurs.

I recently had a dream where I looked out my window and it was flooding outside, up to my second story window. And all I could think was "I hope I can keep it from getting in my room." I miss such obvious stuff in EVERY dream. I don't know how to bring logic into my dreams. Thats my problem

There are strong and weak dreamsigns,
from what I can read here you don't have that much strong dreamsigns
so it just takes a little longer.

Sometimes I'm having also difficulties figuring out weak dreamsigns.
But just a couple of days ago I realized a pattern where I thought
every dream was different: Wild animals as a dreamsign.
Couldn't see it though from the start because each time it was a different
one. But after a while I could boil it down to that term.

So even if you think they are absolutely different try to think
of what some things have in common, might need to think a little outside
      the box...good luck!

I think you're right, I just need to look harder. what you call weak dream signs is what I referred to as subtle in one of the other posts. Two signs can be different but bears reference to the same thing, like you said wild animals not a specific animal.

lol oy i so do that!! except i think thats the point about dreams. your logical brain shuts down. i think that if you do RCs wen you see random stuff in real life then that carries over into your dreams. kinda like a dream sign, but rather a dream trigger. so if you see something random happen, or something dejavu (like the cat thing on the matrix) check to see if your dreaming or not. be extremely critical. anything out of the ordinary. RC! hehe hope it helps. i'm quite new too, and have trouble finding my DS. but will keep trying!
